Ever get the feeling something was rigged from the start?
Yes, they are all good Pokémon, but out of all of them, Eevee seems the rarest. Eevee seems to have the most potential, especially in a place like Alola.
"After seeing the mons myself, It's Eevee isn't?" I unconsciously looked into Eevee's eyes and continued. "Eevee's the one that was abandoned because she can't evolve."
Eevee visibly wilted from my words. Her purple eyes teared up slightly. She tried in vain to hide her face in shame with her paws.
I definitely struck a nerve.
"Yes... Eevee can not evolve; she provoked no reaction from several elemental stones. " Even though Nurse Joy talked about it before, I could hear the strain in her voice. She sounded like she was a lawyer pleading her case to a judge or jury.
"I-if you think it will be a problem, I can assure you it won't! I've seen her train on her own, I've seen her battle! If you just give her a chance-"
"I choose Eevee."
Eevee's ears shot up, not just because of my words. There was no hesitation in my words. My words felt less like a hard decision and more like it was an obvious answer, which it was.
Evolutions is a key part of a Pokémon's strength. Unless it's the son of Arceus himself or a legendary, you need to evolve to reach your full potential. No one wanting to reach the top would choose not to evolve their Pokémon. Unless you love the Pokémon itself, had plans for it, or knew something that others didn't, you'd never 'really' pick one.
My words brought Eevee into a daze, clearly not expecting my words.
"-you'll find... huh?"
"Yeah, I pick Eevee."
"...Just like that?"
"Just like that." While I walked toward the dazed Eevee, I sent her a side-eye with a small smile. "You sound like you didn't expect me to."
"I, Well, Um. I didn't expect- I mean, I introduced Eevee to a couple of people so far."
"Annd~ you didn't think this would be different, correct?"
"I, well, I hoped you would. If you don't mind me asking, why?"
I picked up Eevee; she didn't resist. "Can't I just trust the judgment of a beautiful woman?" I said with a smile.
Seduce check 37/50 failed.
I really should raise that skill higher.
Nurse Joy shot me a glare. "Can you give me a serious answer, please?"
Here's what I ask myself in this moment.
How could the people of this world know what I know? Why would the people of this world trust my words- my knowledge when I have clearly stated to have memory issues?
At the end of the day, how big of an impact could I have?
Charisma check 8/6 Passed.
As long as I don't talk about any specially powerful Pokemon, like legendaries, it'll be fine.
"Number 1, that was a serious answer." I held up Eevee in front of Nurse Joy. "Number 2, tell me, what do you see?"
"This Eevee is a girl; you can tell by the heart-shaped pattern on her tail. She has lighter fur and purple eyes, but that still doesn't answer the why!"
"She's a partner Pokemon."
"Partner... Pokemon?"
"My memories aren't the best, but I remember a lot about Pokemon. One of them being partner Pokemon."
"But, what is a partner Pokemon?"
"There are many reasons a Pokemon can't evolve; both Pikachu and Eevee have variants called partner Pokemon. These Pokemon are much stronger than their counterparts and can learn special moves, but can't evolve."
"Even if that's true, the strongest Eevee might not be able to match its evolved forms."
"First and foremost, that would be a skill issue, not a form issue. Secondly, that might be true for most regions, but in Alola they have an edge most don't!"
It dawned on Nurse Joy what I was talking about, but even then. "Z-Z-moves? I feel like I've said this too many times today, but even then, Eevee has a limited attack pool."
Normally this would be true.
"For every form partner Eevee could have evolved into, she has an attack move of that element that can be used for Z-moves. Not only that, Eevee has an exclusive Z-move." Her eyes widen at my statement.
"6 additional elements?"
Pokémon Knowledge check 75/50 Pass.
"Where are you getting the 6 at?" I said in puzzlement.
"Eevee can evolve into fire, grass, water, electric, psychic, and dark types."
"You're forgetting Ice and Fairy types."
"Can't say I'm the most knowledgeable in Eevee's evolution. These are mainly the types I've seen before." she said while scratching the back of her head.
Either Glaceon and Sylveon haven't been discovered yet, or are just very rare, to the point people wouldn't know them. I could see why people wouldn't know those 2; after all, Ice stones are extremely rare, and Eevee only knows 2 Fairy-type moves without TMs.
"Did you say Ice and Fairy types?" The man who said that was dark skin wearing a white lab coat, a white hat, and green-rimmed glasses. Under the lab coat, the man was shirtless.
I played the games, I watched the anime, I know this man is.
Professor Kukui. He studies Pokémon moves, I think.
"Yes, their names are Glaceon and Sylveon."
"Do you perhaps know the conditions for Glaceon and Sylveon evolutions?"
Charisma check 8/4 Passed.
"Sure thing, mister~." I said because I don't feel like making up a reason of why I know his name.
"Kukui! Pleasure to meet you."
"Adam, and this is my partner Eevee." I continued with the explanation he asked for. "Glaceon is simply an ice stone, while Sylveon is a friendship evolution, while knowing a fairy-type move like Baby-Doll Eyes."
"You're extremely knowledgeable in Pokémon studies, Adam."
"One of the few things I am in. I'll learn more when I go to trainer school."
"You're enrolling in Alola's trainer school? I just so happen to teach there."
"I'm also planning to take the Island trials, after a little training, and getting my trainer passport, of course."
A/N: Welcome back. I have half the words in the chapter; I was struggling to write 2000-word chapters, and thought it would be better to write 1000. It was much easier for me, at least.
Partner Eevee really is goated in Alola; that's 12 attack Z-moves it can use, 14 if we're talking about status moves such as toxic and Extreme Eevee boost. Not to mention the moves themself, which are busted.
