The elevator doors opened on the seventh floor.
An employee glanced up from her desk and startled slightly.
"Ah — CEO?"
"Continue on with your work" Mo Beichuan said. "I'm just here to observe"
"Y — yes sir"
He walked into the development room. The usual sounds — keyboards, low conversation, the hum of machines running. He glanced around once.
Then turned to the nearest employee.
"Where is Miss Lin"
The employee blinked. "Oh — Miss Lin took a day off today"
"I see" he said. "Thank you"
He turned and walked out.
From across the room, Han Ming watched him go.
She said nothing.
She turned back to her screen.
Her fingers hovered over the keyboard for a moment.
...oh ho.
A small smile crossed her face.
Interesting.
The next day — during break.
The office had settled into its usual midday quiet. Someone had brought in snacks. A few people were on their phones.
Han Ming leaned over casually.
"Qinran"
"Mm"
"The CEO came by yesterday"
"I see"
"He asked about you"
"I see"
Han Ming looked at her. Really looked at her. Qinran hadn't even glanced up from her screen.
"That's all you have to say?"
"What else should I say?"
Han Ming stared at her for a long moment.
Then sighed deeply, the sigh of a woman who had expected more and received nothing.
"...Nothing"
She turned back to her own screen.
Qinran returned to her code.
The CEO.
She tapped one finger absently on the desk.
Not my problem.
She turned back to her screen.
