Lucrezia felt like someone had sucked her soul dry from her body as her heart thumped loudly in her chest, hearing what Maverick said.
His expression was cold and stoic as he bore down into her gaze, his body just an inch away from hers.
Moving back instinctively, she swallowed in her nervousness before backing away and turning to face Gavin's form on the bed, seeing how Maverick didn't stop looking at her.
Even with her back to him, she could still feel his eyes on her and this only made her palms sweaty.
"I-I think these will do," She said, looking at the surgical instruments on the tray not far from her as she tried to concentrate on the work she was hear for.
"Great. I'll be waiting outside once you are done," Maverick told her in his chilly voice, picking each word out one by one like he wanted her to get the feel of it.
