Inside the club, the air was thick and tasted like a mix of expensive perfume and cheap sweat. It was packed with teenagers from all over, everyone dancing, grinding, or just doing some kind of random shit to the beat of the music. The bass was so loud I could feel it thumping in my throat.
I was standing between Dave and Katie, trying to look like I belonged there. I was holding a plastic cup of beer, but my focus wasn't on the drink. My eyes were busy darting through the strobe lights, searching for any sign of Princess and Malo.
Seriously, Katie's eyes were still on me, tracking my every move like she was waiting for me to glitch.
"Yo, why aren't you drinking?" Katie asked, her voice cutting through the noise.
"What?" I shouted back over the music.
"That's your favorite beer, isn't it? You haven't even taken a sip," she said, pointing at my full cup.
"Hahaha, I've had too many tonight and I don't think I can take any more," I said, giving her a fake, strained smile.
