Chapter 27 - The Unbound Heart

You can chain the hands and lock the heavy door,

But you cannot make a heart love you more.

For love is a bird that must choose its own wing,

It cannot be forced or be tutored to sing.

You can beg for the light and plead for the spark,

But you'll only find yourself lost in the dark.

A soul isn't something that you can command,

It slips like the water right through your hand.

True affection is born in the wild and the free,

Like the wind on the hills or the waves of the sea.

If you have to demand it, or fight for a crumb,

Then the heart that you're seeking has already gone numb.

There is no glory in a prize that is caught,

Or a feeling of warmth that is begged for or bought.

To hold someone tightly against their own will,

Is to stand in a garden where everything's still.

So let go of the ghost and the love that is forced,

For a river that's blocked will be quickly divorced.

Keep your own dignity, stand tall and be true,

For the love that is yours will find its way to you.
