Falling through a shattered floor was bad enough, but falling toward a beating heart the size of a city block was a completely different level of terrifying.
The stone floor of the amphitheater didn't just break. It completely dissolved into a rain of heavy boulders and gray dust.
Below them, a massive moat of boiling black nectar was swirling like a dark whirlpool, waiting to consume anything that dropped into it.
"Raven! Talia! Use the lines!" Kael yelled, his voice instantly swallowed by the rushing wind as he tumbled through the empty space.
"I tried!" Raven shouted back, his face tight as he yanked his arm back. "The ancient stone walls are turning to dust! There's nothing solid enough to hold a damn anchor!"
Elara felt the wind tearing at her face, her lungs straining to catch a breath.
Her back was still on fire from the raw nectar blast she had taken moments ago, but she refused to just close her eyes and wait for the impact.
She was the Catalyst.
