In a massive circular "hatchery" over a hundred meters in diameter, specialized magma glowed with a crimson light, churning slowly like a living entity.
At its very center, a colossal, pitch-black figure was gradually taking shape.
Jieming stood at the edge of the hatchery, observing the monstrous Black Giant rising from the magma through a transparent, high-strength energy observation shield. His eyes gleamed with an almost obsessive satisfaction.
The modified lava giant was entirely jet-black, its surface unnaturally smooth and utterly devoid of any reflection. It appeared as if its entire body were encased in a layer of black metal. Even its massive eyes were pure, light-absorbing black.
Yet upon closer inspection, one would notice that its dark skin was not a static solid. The "black metal" flowed like a living liquid across its body, constantly shifting in subtle, irregular patterns. Though its overall form appeared stable, every part of its surface was in perpetual, minute motion.
The most bizarre thing was that, despite being submerged in molten lava hot enough to melt steel, it continuously radiated bone-chilling cold.
Jieming was immensely pleased with the sight before him.
The transformed Black Giant before him perfectly matched his original design concept!
However, just as the newly formed, still somewhat sluggish Black Giant began to stir violently.
Its massive, emotionless eyes slowly rotated, then locked onto Jieming, its "creator," with unwavering intensity!
It had lost control!
Jieming merely frowned slightly, showing no signs of panic.
This outcome was entirely within his expectations.
It was only natural for a newly created, powerful being to exhibit primal instincts and untamed ferocity upon its birth.
He casually tapped a few commands on a nearby floating terminal screen, recording a memo: Next time, remember to strengthen the soul and spirit control mechanisms for newly modified species.
"ROAR!!!"
With a roar brimming with savage energy, the Black Giant surged out of the scalding hatchery!
Its colossal form radiated an overwhelming sense of oppression, churning up scorching magma and icy frost as it lunged at Jieming!
Yet, upon witnessing this, Jieming's face broke into a grin.
"Excellent timing! This is the perfect opportunity to personally test this thing's combat capabilities and current state."
Without hesitation, he deactivated the observation shield before him.
Though the Black Giant appeared massive and ponderous, its movements were shockingly swift, bordering on the absurd!
Even Jieming, in his current state, could barely discern a blurry afterimage left by its expressway movements.
Bang!
Before he could react, the energy shield he had just erected shattered under the force of the Black Giant's iron fist!
The unimaginable impact sent Jieming hurtling backward through the air!
"Intriguing!"
Regaining his balance mid-air, Jieming immediately activated the "Acceleration" spell artifact.
Enhanced by the artifact's boost to his reaction speed, Jieming finally managed to keep pace with the Black Giant's ghost-like movements.
Soaring through the vast skies of the Purgatory Sulfur Plane, Jieming watched the Black Giant charge toward him like a black cannonball. Even in this critical moment, he found himself mentally assessing its capabilities:
"Impressive... judging by its astonishing acceleration, it has indeed perfectly inherited the snow monster's innate talent for manipulating time."
With a thought, he deactivated all protective shields in front of him. The muscles in his right arm instantly bulged, enveloped in a layer of solidified energy.

The two fists, utterly disproportionate in size, collided with earth-shattering force!
The Black Giant's strength was only part of the threat.
The instant their fists made contact, a bone-chilling cold, so intense it threatened to freeze Jieming's very soul, surged from the point of impact and spread through his entire body.
For a split second, he felt his blood threatening to solidify!
The sudden, extreme cold paralyzed him momentarily, severely hindering his movements.
This brief paralysis left Jieming utterly defenseless, unable to mount any effective resistance.
"Damn it!"

In the next instant, the Black Giant's follow-up iron fist slammed squarely into Jieming's face, sending him flying backward like a kite with a severed string.

This time, Jieming crashed directly into the artificial, perpetually churning sea of lava beside him.
He scrambled out of the scalding lava, wincing at the burning pain on his face. He rubbed his cheek, mentally summarizing, "The strength... is decent. But this absurd cold... its heat absorption is even more ridiculously powerful than I anticipated!"
So far, Jieming was thoroughly impressed with the Black Giant's performance.
Why did this Black Giant continue to radiate bone-chilling cold even while submerged in molten lava?
And why was it completely unaffected by the extreme external heat?
Because, fundamentally, it wasn't "radiating" cold at all—it was frantically "absorbing" all the heat from its surroundings!
In the wizard world, there were two primary methods for creating cold.
One involved actively "releasing" cold energy by harnessing elemental forces related to ice, frost, death, and similar elements.
The other, similar to the approach Jieming had used in his previous life, adhered to the law of conservation of energy. By "absorbing" heat from the environment, it passively created low-temperature regions.
The Black Giant's bizarre behavior stemmed from its true nature as a lava giant.
Its interior contained immense heat, making it a walking miniature sun.
The Hybrid Engine, a core modified from the snow monster and lava giant, continuously absorbed all external heat.
It even devoured most of the energy-rich light waves.
This explained its pure black surface, capable of swallowing all light.
This feat was achieved through two core technologies:
1. water-type heat extraction and energy circulation, derived from Jieming's analysis of the Origin of the Water Element.
2. fire-type energy transformation technology, developed during his previous research on lava giants.
Thus, the Black Giant's design was remarkably devious.
When facing an enemy unfamiliar with its nature, the Black Giant's chilling aura would instinctively prompt them to use fire-type attacks for elemental advantage.
In reality, any fire attribute attack would only serve as highly efficient charging for it!
And when its enemies realized their mistake and attempted to use water or frost attribute attacks to generate extreme cold, the special ability derived from fire-type energy transformation technology allowed the Black Giant to absorb the energy released by the cold as well!
Even other forms of energy, such as lightning or pure energy blasts, would have the vast majority of their energy absorbed by its unique, black hole-like surface!
The only true counter to this creature's combat style would be to adopt a similar heat-absorption strategy, competing with it for the energy in the surrounding environment to drastically increase its energy consumption.
Alternatively, the most effective approach would be to use purely physical kinetic energy attacks!

The fierce battle continued to rage across the Purgatory Sulfur Plane.
Jieming, relying on his agile movements and extensive combat experience, engaged the Black Giant in a perilous duel while constantly analyzing its capabilities:
"Its immunity to energy attacks is absolute! In fact, most conventional energy attacks only serve to charge it further!"
"The combined effect of the snow monster and lava giant innate talents is far greater than I anticipated!"
"While the lava giant's naturally vast energy reserve—akin to a boundless sea—has been somewhat diminished in this creature, its inherent reserves, coupled with its ability to continuously draw power from external sources, still grant it an absurdly massive energy pool!"
"This colossal energy reserve, in turn, allows the snow monster's time-manipulation talent to reach its full potential!"
While it doesn't quite replicate the absolute "time-stop" domain created by the two races' cooperation on the Flamefrost Plane, this Black Giant, fueled by its immense energy, can simultaneously accelerate its own temporal flow and project a force field that slows down time within a small radius around its body!
Thus, despite both combatants being only second-tier, Jieming, fighting at his normal level, struggled even to track the Black Giant's movements!
In the end, after considerable effort, Jieming finally managed to completely subdue the Black Giant.
"Theoretically, its weakness is physical attacks, but it still retains the elemental creature's extreme resistance to physical damage... My hands are exhausted from fighting it..."
Jieming gazed with immense satisfaction at the creature sprawled on the ground, still snarling in defiant whispers.
The Time Domain's hyper-accelerated speed, combined with his own unique ability to absorb nearly all forms of energy, made this Black Giant capable of delivering a devastating "first encounter kill" even against formal wizards of comparable rank.
"Now, it's time to give you a name..."
Jieming approached the prone Black Giant.
According to the wizard civilization's official naming conventions, this entirely new creation should be called: "Energy-Absorbing Temporal Distortion Hybrid Elemental Lifeform."
Jieming found this name far too cumbersome and likely to reveal the Black Giant's capabilities.
After a moment's thought, he summoned a floating terminal beside him.
Activating the holographic display, he entered a new name.
Code Name: Black Giant!
