Behind the Mage Association building was a large open training ground measuring nearly one hundred meters in both length and width.
The stone-paved field was clean and orderly, showing obvious signs of regular maintenance, while rows of targets stood in the distance at intervals of roughly ten meters, each one bearing countless marks left behind by years of magical testing.
Some targets were blackened by fire, some were cracked by earth magic, while others carried traces of frost and wind cuts. A faint smell of scorched wood and old magic lingered in the air, mixing with the warm breeze drifting across the open space.
Every mage who wished to register with the Mage Association was required to demonstrate their abilities. It was not only proof that they were truly a mage, but also a way for the association to determine what rank of badge they deserved.
