Chapter 52 - { CHAPTER 50: HEALING }

I remained silent, gently reaching out to pick up the teddy bear sitting beside me. Immediately, a glowing green notification from the System popped up right before my eyes:

[SYSTEM DETECTED HOST IS INJURED. DO YOU WISH TO USE THE ITEM?]

I closed my eyes, silently thinking the word "Yes" in my mind. At that exact moment, the worn-out teddy bear in my hands suddenly emitted a soothing green aura. The light slowly enveloped my torn, gashed palm. Miraculously, the bleeding wounds instantly closed up and knitted back together, and the deep red blood stopped flowing entirely.

Yashu, standing nearby, was also startled by this sudden burst of power. However, with the fire of anger still burning inside her, she coldly turned away, absolutely refusing to utter a single question. Yashu decisively walked outside, returning a moment later with a cloth in her hand, and silently knelt down to clean up the ruined mess of spilled coffee on the floor.

The surrounding space fell into a suffocating silence. The only sound left was the rustling of the cloth rubbing against the cold tiled floor.

Looking at Yashu's back, a wave of regret washed over me. Knowing that I was truly in the wrong, I spoke up softly, my voice barely a whisper:

-"I'm sorry..."

Saying that, I slowly stepped closer, leaned down, and gently took hold of the cloth in her hand:

-"Let me clean it."

Yashu didn't answer me; she simply chose silence. The space inside the room was now strangely quiet, so still that we could clearly hear the faint rumble of traffic passing by on the street outside. The two of us just kept our heads down, wiping the floor together and silently picking up each broken shard of the coffee mug without anyone bothering to say a word.

It wasn't until the mess on the ground was mostly cleaned up that she suddenly spoke, breaking the heavy silence:

-"Did something... just happen regarding your mother?"

Yashu's unexpected question was like a splash of cold water, making me flinch instantly, my eyes widening in shock:

-"Huh?! This..."

I hesitated a little, looking at her flusteredly for a moment before hesitantly continuing:

-"Yes... But, how did you know that?"

Yashu fell into deep thought for a moment. Her eyes stared blankly into the space ahead as if reminiscing about something, then she softly replied:

-"There was a day you had a nightmare, and your scream was so loud that I could hear it even while lying in the opposite room..."
