Chapter 9 - chapter 9 the house two building away

"What is it?" her mother asked.

"Nothing," Irene said quickly. "Just… lost my appetite."

Irene stood up slightly. "I'll be back.",And her parent didn't stop her.

She hurried to her room, she closed the door behind her and leaned against it for a second.

She exhaled slowly, rubbing her face with her hands,That was when it happened, A faint pressure behind her eyes.

She froze instantly, she slowly turned her head toward the window. And she see for her self that nothing was there. But her senses didn't agree with the fact that she felt something and she didn't see the thing

She could feel things differently now,not like a human or a vampire

"What is wrong with me…" she whispered as she cried slowly

She pressed her fingers to her temple,And then she sense something in the air, strong and metallic.

Her eyes snapped open.

She looked around her room again, slower this time.

But the scent didn't belong here,it wasn't from her house,it was something else and she knew it

Irene curiosly moved to the window without thinking much about the situation.

She pushed it open slightly, cold air slipped in.

And there it was again, the scent stronger this time

Her heart began to beat faster not from fear exactly, but from recognition she didn't understand.

She inhaled carefully.

And she felt like the thing was calling her attention without words.

Irene stepped back from the window.

"No," she muttered to herself. "That's not normal."

But even as she said it, Her body disagreed,Because vampire part of the her already knew where it was coming from.

A knock at the door startled her.

"Irene?" her mother's voice came through. "Are you okay?", she asked corcernly

She blinked, snapping out of it. "Yeah… I'm fine."

"You sure?", she asked the second time

"Yes," Irene said more firmly.

"Okay", before her footsteps moved away.

But now it felt different.Irene stared at her window again,The smell was gone, But the feeling hasn't done yet

Irene stepped out of the house slowly, closing the door behind her. She needed air fresh air, not the heavy feeling sitting in her room.

The street was quieter than usual. A few distant voices, and the occasional passing car.

At least, it looked normal compared to the thing she felt when she was inside her room

She walked down the street, taking in the beauty of the street as if that's her first being there

Everything felt more clearer and alive in her view

Then she noticed a house two buildings away.It had always been empty, or maybe she thought

The house seems empty though ,the front door was slightly open with lights on.

Irene slowed down curiously "That's new…" she murmured, trying to firgure out what's going on, then she heared a sound from inside the house

Irene's breath caught slightly and step back before the saw a shadow then the light went off again

Irene screamed loudly and she ran as fast as she could toward the direction of her house

She entered her room through her window to not raise suspension, she then sat quite in the floors dragging her own hair in anger and frustration

The next morning felt… off.

The sky was clear, the halls were loud, and everything looked exactly the same.

Irene Williams adjusted her bag as she walked into school, her eyes scanning . Students and teachers passed through the hall way laughing ,gisting and talking but her attention kept drifting.

Why do you look like you didn't sleep?" mia asked, falling into step beside her.

"I slept," Irene replied.

"Mm-hmm," mia said, clearly not convinced.

Irene didn't argue with her because she didn't have the energy to.

Her racking in her skull for the flashbacks, things she felt and seen

They entered the classroom just as the bell rang.

Students settled into their seats, the usual noise fading as the teacher's presence is felt

Irene dropped into her chair, pulling out her notebook.

The pen touched the paper but Irene didn't just write.

Her fingers stayed still, her eyes looking blankly into space

"Irene.", mr miller, their history teacher asked her

She blinked as the teacher's voice cut through her thoughts.

Yes sir," she said quickly, sitting up straighter.

"Are you with us?" the teacher asked, narrowing her eyes slightly.

"Yes," Irene replied.

The class resumed, but Irene's focus didn't return.

The sound of chalk on the board felt too loud in her head, everything looking strange to her

Someone whispering at the back, but in her ear is very clear enough for her to almost make out every word.

Irene's grip tightened on her pen.

Then the scent hit her again, the scent hit her again, she could fell it again, she

Her breath caught and her eyes scanning the whole class, starting from the teacher to the next person sitting beside her left and right then to the whole class

"Irene, are you okay?" Mia whispered beside her.

Irene didn't answer immediately, instead she fixed her gaze on the door

The door creaked open slightly the door creaked open slightly.

A late student stepped in.

The teacher turned, annoyed. "You're late"

But Irene wasn't listening to either of them because the moment the person stepped in the scent of the blood became stronger

Her body reacted instantly before she mr miller said to the boy "Hey, you got blood on your elbow, you're bleeding",

" Ouch,i was scratching it,i didn't know it would bleed, the boy said

"Go to directly to the clinic",mr miller said and continue the topic with the rest of the class

The word blood echoed in her head longer ,

Her chest tightened

The scent is now faint ,slingered even after the boy left the class.

Meanwhile lucian was absent from school that day

By the time school ended, her thoughts were scattered.

She barely remembered the way home or walking home
