Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Pride and the village progression.

The gacha spinner whirled with that now-familiar green glow, cycling through silhouettes of creatures I could barely make out.

Mystery slot... mystery slot... lion... mystery slot...

The spinner began to slow.

My heart hammered as it drifted past the mystery slots, past the eagle insignia, and finally...

-Klnk!

It landed squarely on the Dinosaur Insignia.

The entire interface exploded with golden light...far more intense than Napoleon's summoning, far more dramatic than anything I'd witnessed before. The air itself seemed to vibrate with raw power, and I instinctively stumbled backward.

However, My eyes were glued at the scene.

Emerging from the radiance was a creature of absolute legend.

A Wyvern.

Not a full dragon....only two powerful hind legs, its wing-claws serving as forelimbs..yet no less magnificent. Obsidian-black scales traced with molten crimson veins shimmered like living lava. Its twenty-five-foot wings stretched wide, talons wicked and sharp. A serpentine neck rose to a horn-crowned head of polished onyx.

And its molten gold eyes burned with pride and terrifying intelligence.

[WELL, WELL, WELL! Lucky Human! Never thought you'd be getting something decent with your horrible luck!]

ChatZero's mockery resounded on my brain but I didn't bother bickering...my eyes glued to the translucent window materialized:

Juvenile Four Stars.

Beasts had different Evolution path than humans. What humans have is Cultivation Realm while Beasts have evolution Realm.

It goes as Initiate Beasts, Juvenile beasts and Evolved beasts all of it shares the same (1-7 soul star Rankings).

It's what the boy's knowledge hold and I am sure there were more of it..

Either way, even if we purely count with soul star variant this summoned beast of mine was eight star apart from me even if we ignore the Evolution realms.

"Holy Fuck...."

The Wyvern's gaze swept over me with what could only be described as utter contempt. Those molten gold eyes assessed me from head to toe...taking in my disheveled appearance, my modest Initiate three-star rank, my crude forest shelter.

I could practically hear its thoughts: This? THIS is my summoner?

How embarrassing!

The loyalty rating of 12% suddenly made perfect sense.

"Wait..." I raised a hand, trying to establish some kind of connection. "Listen, I know this isn't ideal, but we can.."

The Wyvern's lip curled, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth.

Then, without a single sound of acknowledgment, it spread its massive wings.

"WAIT!"

-WHOOOOOOSH!

The powerful downdraft from its takeoff sent me sprawling backward like a ragdoll. Dirt, leaves, and small stones exploded around me in a miniature hurricane. I hit the ground hard, the wind knocked from my lungs.

Napoleon squawked indignantly, his feathers ruffling wildly in the backdraft.

With a single powerful beat of its wings, the magnificent creature launched itself skyward. It weaved between the massive trees of the Great Jura Forest with impossible grace and agility, its dark scales blending into the shadows of the canopy.

Within seconds, it was nothing more than a distant silhouette.

It was Gone.

[Loyalty: 12% → 11%]

I lay there on my back, staring at the empty sky where the Wyvern had vanished, completely stunned.

"...It just left."

[Observation skills: adequate. Yes, your Elite four-star apex predator took one look at you and said 'absolutely not.' I've never seen a more justified rejection in my entire existence.]

"ChatZero..."

[What? It's TRUE! That Lizard assessed your worth in approximately 2.3 seconds and decided you weren't even worth a goodbye! Not bad for a Lizard, kukuku No one loves you, Mortal.]

I ignored those amusements...slowly sat up, brushing dirt and leaves from my hair. My entire body ached from the impact.

Kaira emerged from the shelter, her eyes wide. "Marfin! Are you okay? What WAS that thing?"

"That," I said flatly, "was apparently my new summon."

"That was YOUR summon?! And it just... flew away?"

"Yeah .. I'm not impressive enough for an Elite-rank Wyvern yet." I stood up, wincing. "Can't say I blame it, honestly."

Napoleon approached and pecked at my boot with what felt like genuine concern. His head tilted, and one beady eye fixed on me as if to say, I still think you're worthy.

"Thanks, buddy. At least YOU appreciate me."

[Loyalty: 80% → 82%]

Timber lumbered over as well, extending a thick vine to help me up properly.

"Master... okay? Big flying creature... rude to Master."

"Yeah, Timber. It was pretty rude." I accepted the vine and stood, dusting myself off. "But what can you do? Can't force someone ..or something to respect you."

[Inhabitants: 5/6]

The notification mocked me silently.

I'd used my precious Normal Summon Ticket and gained... what, exactly? A Wyvern that wanted nothing to do with me.

However ,It was still registered as a summon. Maybe it was somewhere out there in the vast forest, probably hunting and completely ignoring my existence.

[Current Summons: Napoleon (Gallus Rex), Wyvern (Unnamed - Rejected Master)]

[Current Tamed Beasts: Timber (Forest Troll)]

"I didn't even get to name it," I muttered.

[Why bother? It would probably just reject the name too. I suggest 'Disappointment' or perhaps 'Mistake.' lol]

This dude also mocks me every situation it gets the chance. Tsk, talk about Petty.

Still I should atleast have the right to name my summoned Beast!

"How about 'Pride'? Because that's clearly what it's full of."

[...Pride? What a fitting name. Registering designation: Pride]

[Summon 'Wyvern' renamed to 'Pride']

[Loyalty: 11% → 10%]

"Oh, COME ON! It got LOWER?!"

[Apparently, Pride doesn't appreciate being named without consent. The irony is delicious 😋.]

I took a deep breath, forcing myself to focus.

Okay. So I'd summoned an Elite-rank Wyvern that immediately abandoned me.

That was fine. Totally fine. I still had Napoleon, Timber, and... well, Kaira was still here.

Wait.

I turned to Kaira. "How long are you planning to stay?"

She blinked, surprised by the sudden question. "I... I don't know. I need to get to Valdris Academy eventually, but..." She glanced at the forest around us. "I don't even know where I am. And I don't think I'll be able to leave this forest alone..."

"So you'll stay for now?"

"If that's okay with you?"

[Inhabitants: 5/6]

One more. I just needed one more inhabitant to unlock territory expansion.

After that, I spent the entire day planning my progression further.

I can look for an Inhabitant later, first I must complete the other requirements.

A chief house....that was my next goal.

***

The next day,

"Alright, team," I addressed my strange assembly of companions. "We have 178 days to build a functional village. That means we need shelter, food production, and eventually, more inhabitants."

Napoleon pecked at the ground, listening intently.

Timber stood at attention, vines coiled and ready.

Kaira sat on a fallen log, still looking somewhat lost but willing to help.

"Our first priority is to build a house and of course find a companion to fulfill the clause and expand. The magic that's binding me to this place will gradually decay if I expand and play this wretched game!...so people! Let's build a great house!"

Alpearantly I had informed Kaira that I was cursed by a Dark magician and trapped here...to escape I needed to show my competence and build a village..

Surprisingly Kaira had bought it...she was so guillable that it was almost cute.

Anyways, My focus was on the interface before me...an interface that ChatZero approximately pulled out from who knows where...

[Chief's House - Basic Tier]

Required Materials:

200 units of timber (wood)

50 units of stone

Basic Carpenter Set (15 SP)

20 units of vine rope or equivalent binding

Estimated Construction Time: 2-3 days with adequate labor

"Timber," I turned to my Forest Troll. "Can you provide the wood and vines?"

"Timber provide! Timber strong! Master need wood, Timber make wood!" The troll's enthusiasm was genuinely heartwarming.

"Good. What about stone? Can you find stone deposits nearby?"

Timber's vines extended outward, burrowing into the soil in multiple directions like searching tendrils. He must be searching for rocks below the surface level soil .

'Smart Troll.'

After a moment, he nodded vigorously.

"Stone below! Deep down! Timber can pull!"

"Perfect. Can you bring them up and break them into usable pieces?"

"Timber break rock! Timber shape rock!" He pounded his bark-covered chest proudly.

[Forest Trolls have natural affinity with earth materials. Timber can extract and shape stone using a combination of vine manipulation and brute force. The stones will be rough but functional—adequate for a foundation and fireplace.]

"Excellent. Kaira, think you can help with the actual construction? Hammering, assembly, that sort of thing?"

She stood up, shrugging her shoulders. "I can try...No... I think I can handle some carpentry."

So confident...I guess it's because she was an Elite Six stars...she is at the epitome of normal human..

If I compare to old life she was just like those super heroes that were portrayed now and then..

Anyhow,

I purchased the Basic Carpenter Set from the system shop.

[15 SP deducted]

[Current SP: 652]

A wooden toolbox materialized at my feet, filled with hammers, saws, chisels, nails, and various other implements. The quality was surprisingly good—better than anything I'd seen in my previous life's hardware stores.

"Timber, start gathering the wood. Long, straight pieces for the frame. Shorter pieces for the walls. And we'll need vines for binding until we can secure proper joints. Also, bring up those stones...we'll need them for the foundation and a fireplace."

"Yes, Master! Timber work hard!"

The Forest Troll immediately set to work. His vines extended deep into the forest, and I heard the distant sounds of trees being carefully selected and harvested—Timber was surprisingly precise for such a large creature.

Simultaneously, other vines burrowed deep underground. After several minutes, I heard the grinding sound of stone against stone.

Timber's vines emerged carrying chunks of grey-brown rock, roughly the size of my head, some even larger.

"Timber shape now!"

The troll gathered the stones in a pile, then used his massive bark-covered hands in combination with precisely controlled vines to break and shape them.

It wasn't delicate work...these weren't going to be perfectly carved bricks...but Timber managed to create relatively flat surfaces on most sides, making them stackable.

"Impressive work, Timber!"

"Timber happy! Master praise!"

[Loyalty: 70% -> 73%]

Kaira picked up a hammer, testing its weight. "Where do you want this house built?"

I surveyed my limited territory...the fifty-meter radius that currently defined my entire world.

The well was roughly in the center, which made sense as a focal point. I wanted the Chief's House nearby for easy water access, but not so close that construction would damage the well.

"There," I pointed to a relatively flat area about fifteen meters from the well. "Good drainage, solid ground, and close enough to the water source."

Then,we got to work.

The first task was laying the foundation.

Using Timber's shaped stones, we created a rectangular base...roughly four meters by five meters. The stones weren't perfectly uniform, but we filled the gaps with smaller rock pieces and packed earth.

It took most of the day, and by the time the sun began to set, we had a solid stone foundation raised about half a meter off the ground.

"This will keep the wooden structure dry and prevent rot," Kaira explained, demonstrating knowledge I hadn't expected from a merchant's daughter. "My father's warehouses were all built this way."

"Smart."

We also designated a corner area inside the foundation for a fireplace, using the largest and flattest stones Timber had extracted.

The fireplace would be built into the structure itself, with the chimney extending through the roof.

By nightfall, I was exhausted but satisfied.

[Construction Progress: Chief's House - 20%]

That's how the day was finished ...at night, we ate the Hellhounds meat...those were truly terrible.

If I could I would have never eaten those.

Next day...

My hands were blistered.

Every muscle in my body screamed in protest.

I'd forgotten what real manual labor felt like.

In my previous life, I'd been a writer..my most strenuous activity was typing. Even in this young, sixteen-year-old body, I was discovering muscles I didn't know existed.

[Stamina: 34%]

"How..." I gasped, hammering another nail into the frame. "How are you not even TIRED?"

Kaira, who had been working twice as fast as me without breaking a sweat, glanced over with mild concern. "Are you okay? You look really pale."

Tsk...Lucky Elite Six stars....I really envied her for the first time...I wonder how much I needed to cultivate to that level...

"I'm fine," I lied, wiping sweat from my forehead. "Just... not used to this."

"Maybe you should take a break?" Kaira suggested. "Timber and I can handle the heavy lifting."

My pride wanted to refuse, but my screaming muscles won the argument.

"Yeah... maybe just a short break."

I stumbled over to the well and drew up a bucket of cool water, drinking deeply. The relief was immediate and glorious.

Napoleon appeared beside me, clucking softly.

"I know, I know. I'm pathetic." I scratched behind his comb. "But hey, at least I'm trying, right?"

[Loyalty: 82% -> 84%]

The framework of the house was taking shape. Timber had provided excellent materials—straight, strong logs that fit together with surprising precision. The foundation of fieldstone gave the structure a solid base, and we'd carefully positioned the logs atop it, using notched joints that Kaira carved with surprising skill.

Kaira's Elite-rank strength allowed her to lift and position beams that would have required three or four normal workers.

I was basically just... assisting. Hammering nails. Passing tools. Trying not to get in the way.

The fireplace was coming together nicely as well...

We'd stacked the stones inside the designated corner, creating a firebox with a narrow chimney channel that would extend upward through the roof. The stones fit together reasonably well...not perfect, but Timber's shaping had been adequate. We'd fill the gaps with a clay mixture later if needed.

By the end of the second day of construction, the basic structure was complete. Walls were up, roof beams in place, and the fireplace stood ready for its chimney extension.

[Construction Progress: Chief's House - 65%]

"One more day," Kaira said, surveying our work with satisfaction. "Maybe two if we take our time with the details."

I nodded, too exhausted to speak.

That night, I collapsed into my crude shelter (which would be demolished once the Chief's House was finished)

Now that I was already so close...I had taken a breather.

What should I do after building the house?

Who am I asking? Isn't there like...many many things to do?
