Facing Alex's threat, Sabretooth grinned, revealing a ferocious expression. The teeth that had been knocked out had already regrown, but blood still trickled from the corners of his mouth, giving him a savage appearance.
Whether he had a masochistic streak, Sabretooth laughed despite being battered and bruised, seeming even more energized. Seeing his tormentor gather energy, he endured the pain and pulled Darwin in front of him, sneering, "Are you sure you can aim straight? If you hurt your friend, you'll carry that guilt for the rest of your life."
"Alex, strike!" Darwin shouted through the pain, his body's spikes retracting to reform into thick armor.
Seeing Darwin prepared, the Ravager didn't hesitate and fired a laser beam.
Sabretooth used Darwin as a human shield.
The laser beam struck Darwin's body but caused no immediate harm. Then, with the practiced coordination of their training, Darwin moved left while the Ravager shifted his aim, sweeping the beam across Sabretooth's arm.
Sabretooth lacked Darwin's formidable defenses. Flesh and bone split open instantly, exposing the bone. Though he could heal rapidly, the rate of destruction far outpaced his regeneration.
In a short time, Sabretooth's right arm snapped. Darwin, seething with rage, gripped the creature's remaining left hand with all his might, yanked it free, and threw it to the ground with an over-the-shoulder slam.
Next came an armbar. With a twist of the wrist, a sickening crunch echoed as Sabretooth's left wrist was twisted to an unnatural degree.
Darwin, consumed by hatred, didn't stop there. He felt his way up the arm to Sabretooth's neck and began smashing it with his fists.
Professor X couldn't bear to watch. "Darwin, that's enough!" he shouted.
Darwin may have been blinded, but he could still hear. Even with his ability to adapt and survive, he wasn't sure if he could recover from being blinded by Sabretooth. The thought of living in darkness for the rest of his life fueled his rage, and he refused to let the creature responsible escape.
He continued smashing, crushing Sabretooth's throat until blood gushed, yet he didn't stop.
Finally, Professor X used Telepathy to control Darwin, forcing him to cease his frenzied attack.
Meanwhile, the furious Magneto had already dismantled the nuclear submarine and discovered Sebastian inside, absorbing its nuclear energy.
"Die, Shaw!"
With a roar, Magneto raised his hand and produced a coin he carried, electric sparks flashing in his palm as he unleashed his electromagnetic cannon.
*Whoosh!*
Accelerated by electromagnetic force, the coin shot out at supersonic speed, its destructive power slamming into the back of Sebastian Shaw's head.
Shaw had just released the nuclear fuel rod, his body still trembling uncontrollably. The sudden electromagnetic strike sent him recoiling like a spring, his form blurring into a trail of afterimages before quickly stabilizing.
Stretching his limbs, Shaw glanced at the gutted nuclear submarine, then turned to Magneto with a smile. "Little Erik, can't you ever learn? You know your attacks are meaningless against me. But that new ability of yours is... interesting."
He beamed at Magneto as if seeing his own son, but in the next moment, Shaw raised his hand and fired a pure energy beam straight at the mutant.
Magneto dodged the energy beam, only to realize it continued its trajectory, its tip aimed straight at Professor X.
It turned out Sebastian Shaw's initial plan was to eliminate Professor X, the telepath, first.
The energy beam moved too fast for Magneto to intercept. Fortunately, Artoria intervened just in time, blocking the earth-shattering strike with Avalon, her scabbard.
*She blocked it? That doesn't seem like a Mutant ability. Is it the scabbard?*
With a thought, Sebastian Shaw smiled. "Beautiful lady, we meet again. We truly don't need to be enemies. May I ask why you're siding with them?"
As he finished speaking, Shaw glanced in the direction of the US-Soviet Fleet.
Observing the situation around him, Shaw, despite being outnumbered, remained unconcerned.
He was more confident than ever, having absorbed a massive amount of nuclear energy. His body now stored a terrifying amount of power, making him a walking nuclear bomb capable of turning the tide of battle.
At least, that's what he believed.
As long as he triggered a nuclear war, victory would still belong to him.
Artoria remained unmoved, raising Excalibur and pointing it at Sebastian Shaw. "Protecting my Master is my mission. Defeating you is the task he gave me."
"You still don't understand," Shaw continued, his voice dripping with conviction. "We are the future of this world. Those lesser humans will never accept our existence. Faced with our superiority, they will envy, fear, suspect, and resent us. Then they'll do everything in their power to capture us for experimentation, or simply kill us."
Sebastian Shaw kept droning on, trying to persuade the Mutants to join his cause.
In truth, Magneto found some of Shaw's arguments reasonable.
But Shaw had killed his mother. A blood feud that couldn't be mended with mere words.
"You might be right," Magneto said, "but you shouldn't have killed my mother."
With a wave of his hand, Magneto controlled the two massive steel keels of the nuclear submarine and hurled them at Sebastian Shaw.
"Little Erik, you disappoint me."
Shaw raised his hand to block the steel beams, then casually advanced. The beams felt as soft as cotton swabs in his grasp; a gentle push bent them significantly.
Magneto's expression remained unchanged. His true intention had never been to stop Sebastian Shaw; he had only used the steel beams to create obstacles and distract him.
As Shaw advanced, several fine iron wires silently attached themselves to his helmet, swiftly rolling it up with a special material.
With his helmet removed, Shaw's Telepathy activated, instantly seizing control of him.
Under Professor X's control, Sebastian Shaw stood motionless like a statue.
Without wasting words, Magneto pulled out a coin and unleashed another electromagnetic blast, aiming to blow off Shaw's head.
Meanwhile, intelligence from the front lines revealed the mutants' formidable power, shocking both the US and the Soviet Union. As if by telepathic agreement, they swiftly buried their differences and simultaneously issued orders to prioritize the elimination of mutants.
Following these directives, the US-Soviet fleets turned their cannons toward the mutants' concentration point on the island.
