Chapter 44 - The Legend That Cannot Be Spoken

The rain had finally stopped.

Clouds slowly drifted away from the mountain peaks as the first rays of dawn spread across the sect.

Inside a quiet courtyard near the inner disciple quarters, a young woman stood silently.

Yun Lianhua.

Her eyes carried curiosity… and confusion.

Ever since the Supreme Lady of Darel arrived last night, the entire sect had fallen into a strange tension.

Lucifer.

Luna.

The Supreme Lady.

The Supreme Master.

And the unconscious man inside the healing chamber.

All of them seemed connected by something far deeper than anyone dared to explain.

Yun could feel it.

A story was hidden behind them.

A story no one spoke about.

And the more silence she saw…

The more curious she became.

Finally she turned toward the person beside her.

Her master.

Zhen Guanyu.

The old man sat peacefully under a blooming plum tree, holding a cup of warm tea in his hand.

His expression was calm.

But Yun knew him well.

Her master rarely stayed silent without reason.

So she finally asked.

"Master…"

Zhen slowly lifted his eyes.

"Yes?"

Yun hesitated slightly before speaking.

"Those people…"

Her voice lowered.

"Senior Lin… Luna… Lucifer… and the Supreme Lady of Darel…"

She paused.

"They all seem connected somehow."

Her eyes filled with curiosity.

"But everyone acts like they are afraid to speak about it."

"Why?"

For a moment…

Zhen Guanyu did not answer.

Instead, he quietly took a sip of tea.

His eyes drifted toward the distant mountains.

And then…

He smiled.

Not the gentle smile he usually showed his disciples.

But a strange smile.

A smile filled with nostalgia.

And something deeper.

"Ah…"

"So the younger generation has finally started asking questions."

Yun blinked.

"Master?"

Zhen slowly placed his teacup down.

Then he leaned back slightly against the wooden pillar behind him.

His gaze turned toward the sky.

And when he spoke again…

His voice was different.

Lower.

Heavier.

"Asking about them…"

He chuckled softly.

"Means asking about a story that shook the entire multiverse."

Yun's eyes widened slightly.

"Multiverse…?"

Zhen nodded slowly.

"Yes."

He lifted one hand.

Holding up four fingers.

"Four years ago."

"The multiverse was drowning in blood."

Yun froze.

Her master rarely spoke so seriously.

Zhen continued.

"You've heard stories about conflicts between universes before."

"But what happened four years ago…"

His eyes darkened slightly.

"Wasn't a conflict."

"It was a slaughter."

The air in the courtyard suddenly felt colder.

"The strongest warlords from countless realms."

"Ancient sects that ruled over dimensions."

"Beings whose names alone made worlds tremble."

"All of them…"

Zhen's voice dropped.

"Started a war."

Yun felt her heartbeat rising.

"A war… over what?"

Zhen gave a quiet laugh.

"The usual reason."

"Power."

"Dominion."

"Greed."

His gaze slowly moved toward the direction of the Healing Pavilion.

"And in the middle of that chaos…"

"There was one warrior."

Yun leaned forward slightly.

"One… warrior?"

Zhen nodded.

"Yes."

"And that man…"

His eyes gleamed faintly.

"Walked into a battlefield where even gods feared to step."

Yun swallowed.

"What happened to him?"

Zhen smiled.

"What happened?"

He leaned forward slightly.

"Child."

His voice lowered.

"He ended the war."

The words hit Yun like thunder.

"What…?"

Zhen raised a finger slowly.

"Armies that numbered in the millions."

"Factions that ruled entire star systems."

"Immortal tyrants who thought themselves invincible."

"All of them…"

His smile widened slightly.

"Were crushed."

"By one man."

Yun felt chills spread across her skin.

"That's impossible…"

Zhen chuckled softly.

"Of course it sounds impossible."

"Most people would call it an exaggeration."

He lifted his tea again.

"But the truth…"

His eyes turned sharp.

"Was even more terrifying."

Yun whispered softly.

"What did he do?"

Zhen slowly stood up.

Then he walked toward the edge of the courtyard, looking out at the mountains.

"The war lasted for years."

"Universes burned."

"Civilizations vanished."

"And in the final battle…"

His voice dropped to a near whisper.

"Blood rained across the stars."

Yun's breath caught.

"But that bloodbath…"

Zhen turned slightly.

"Came to an end with the blood of a single warrior."

Yun's eyes widened.

"What do you mean?"

Zhen folded his hands behind his back.

"That man fought until the battlefield fell silent."

"Until every troublemaker who tried to tear apart the multiverse…"

"Was buried beneath the ashes of their own arrogance."

The wind gently moved through the plum blossoms.

"And when the war ended…"

Zhen looked toward the distant sect buildings.

"Only one kingdom remained untouched."

Yun followed his gaze.

"Our… kingdom?"

Zhen nodded slowly.

"Yes."

His voice carried quiet pride.

"This kingdom."

"This universe."

"Was the only one he protected."

Yun's heart started beating faster.

"Why?"

Zhen chuckled.

"That…"

"Is a question only he could answer."

Then he suddenly folded his hands respectfully.

His expression turned solemn.

"If that man is still alive…"

His voice carried absolute certainty.

"No one in the entire multiverse would dare threaten the people of our universe."

"No army."

"No emperor."

"No god."

"Not even the rulers of the outer realms."

The words sent chills through Yun's body.

But before she could ask anything else—

A calm voice spoke from behind them.

"That is enough."

Both Yun and Zhen turned instantly.

Standing at the entrance of the courtyard…

Was the Supreme Master.

His long robes moved gently in the wind as he walked forward.

His expression was calm.

But his eyes were serious.

"Elder Zhen."

Zhen gave a respectful bow.

"Supreme Master."

The Supreme Master looked at Yun.

Then back at Zhen.

"You know the rules."

His voice was calm.

"But stories about that man…"

"Are not meant to be spoken freely."

Yun blinked in confusion.

"Why…?"

She turned toward him.

"Grandpa… why?"

The Supreme Master sighed softly.

For a moment, his eyes carried something heavy.

Then he spoke quietly.

"Because speaking about him…"

"Is forbidden."

Yun froze.

"Forbidden…?"

Zhen nodded slightly.

"Yes."

Yun looked between them.

"But why would something like that be forbidden?"

The Supreme Master looked toward the sky.

And when he answered…

His voice carried deep caution.

"Because the Curses do not want people remembering him."

Yun's heart skipped.

"The… Curses?"

Zhen spoke quietly.

"The Absolute Being."

"The one who governs fate and balance between universes."

Yun felt goosebumps spread across her arms.

"Why would such a being forbid people from remembering a hero?"

The Supreme Master's eyes darkened slightly.

"Because emotions are dangerous."

"Especially when they are directed toward someone who defied fate itself."

The wind blew harder through the courtyard.

"Legends inspire hope."

"Hope inspires rebellion."

"And rebellion…"

He paused.

"Is something the Curses will never allow."

Yun slowly understood.

"So they… erased him?"

The Supreme Master nodded.

"Not completely."

"But enough."

"Most people across the universes have already forgotten the story."

"Even the high authorities of our own sect…"

"Will not speak his title."

Yun whispered softly.

"Then why do you remember?"

For a moment…

Both elders were silent.

Then Zhen smiled faintly.

"Because some memories…"

He tapped his chest lightly.

"Cannot be erased."

Yun looked toward the distant Healing Pavilion.

Where Lin Xianwu lay recovering.

A strange feeling rose in her heart.

"Master…"

Her voice trembled slightly.

"That warrior…"

Zhen looked at her calmly.

But he didn't answer.

Instead, the Supreme Master spoke softly.

"Child."

His eyes carried deep meaning.

"Some legends…"

"Are meant to remain silent."

Yun slowly turned her gaze toward the sky.

But she couldn't stop the thought forming in her mind.

Inside the Healing Pavilion…

An unconscious man was sleeping peacefully.

A man who had nearly died.

A man whose existence made the strongest people in the sect tremble with emotion.

And suddenly…

A question echoed inside her heart.

Could it be…

That the warrior who once shook the entire multiverse…

Was lying inside that room?

Unaware.

Silent.

Forgotten by the world.

But not…

By the people who once stood beside him.
