Chapter 54 - The Fork Problem

"Mana resonance," Haytham said, leaning against his desk with his staff balanced across his shoulders like he was posing for a portrait, "is the principle that governs sympathetic casting. Can anyone tell me why two mana signatures vibrating at the same frequency produce a stronger effect than one signature at double the output?"

Silence. Twenty-something students stared at him with varying degrees of confusion and disinterest.

Ashara raised her hand.

Haytham's eyebrows went up. Just enough to notice.

"Valoryn."

"Because mana isn't additive, it's multiplicative. Two sources at the same frequency don't stack, they compound. The resonance creates a feedback loop where each source amplifies the other, so the effective output scales exponentially instead of linearly." She paused. "It's, uh, like two singers hitting the same note versus one singer screaming twice as loud. One fills the room, the other just hurts."

Haytham looked at her for a moment.
