"Ki Magic... I can't say I've heard of that one before."
Mirajane blinked, her curiosity piqued, but she didn't overthink it. There were countless types of magic in this world—common elements, newly discovered lost magics, and even dark, forbidden arts. Even with her vast knowledge as a high-ranking mage, there were plenty of styles she wouldn't recognize.
She quickly dipped her pen and wrote "Ki Magic" in the appropriate column of Goku's registration form.
"Alright, Lucy, what about you? What magic do you use?" Mira asked, setting Goku's paper aside.
Lucy held up a ring of ornate keys with a proud smile. "I use Celestial Spirit Magic."
"Ah, I see!" Mira nodded in recognition. Celestial Spirit Mages were summoners who forged contracts with spirits from another world to fight alongside them. Each key represented a unique spirit.
"Mira-nee, what was that magic the Master used earlier?" Goku asked, his face filled with excitement.
He was fascinated by Makarov's ability to grow into a giant. When Makarov enlarged his body, his ki had surged exponentially. Goku's logic was simple: if he learned that magic, his own ki would increase, making his techniques—like the Kamehameha—unbelievably powerful.
He started imagining the possibilities. 'If Grandpa Dumbledore helps me fix my Animagus transformation so I can turn into a Great Ape, and then I use Giant Magic on top of that...'
The thought made him grin. He might be able to wipe out a mountain with a simple Dodonpa.
"That's Giant Magic," Mira explained, patting Goku on the head. "It allows the user to enlarge their body, which massively increases their life force, physical strength, and durability. At his limit, the Master can become a hundred meters tall! He can crush an S-Class mage with a single punch. If you want to challenge him, Goku, you'll have to train very hard!"
"Challenging the Master... Goku, you've got some guts!" Lucy said, giving him a thumbs-up. As a girl who spent her life reading magic magazines, she knew exactly how terrifying a Wizard Saint was.
"I'll do my best!" Goku replied with characteristic sincerity. "Can I learn that magic too?"
"Of course. The guild has its own library downstairs. It contains many records of various spells, and Giant Magic is definitely in there," Mira confirmed.
As one of the kingdom's oldest guilds, Fairy Tail possessed an impressive collection of magical knowledge. Giant Magic wasn't particularly rare, but it wasn't popular among beginners because it was difficult to master. In the early stages, it only made a user slightly sturdier, which wasn't very effective against elemental mages.
It only became truly formidable once a mage could exceed ten meters in height. Even Makarov had relied on Light Magic in his youth, only becoming famous for his Giant form later in life.
"However, I wouldn't suggest spending too much time on it right away," Mira advised gently. "At your age, it's better to focus on your primary magic. But if you want to study it as a support skill, that's fine too."
She worried about him becoming a "jack of all trades, master of none." Not everyone was a genius like the Master. But seeing Goku's determined face, she decided to let him choose his own path.
"Alright, hold out your hands! Once you get your guild marks, you're official members!"
Mira produced the magical stamp and pressed it onto the back of Lucy's hand and Goku's. Lucy hopped around, squealing with joy at finally being a Fairy Tail mage. Goku looked at the mark, then glanced around at the hall—which was still a disaster zone of splinters and cracked stone from his earlier fight.
He pointed a finger at the center of the room.
"Reparo!"
A wave of silver magical light swept through the guild. Broken tables mended themselves, shattered chairs flew back together, and cracks in the walls sealed up as if time were flowing backward.
To Goku, fixing what he broke was just common sense. But to the rest of the guild, it was a revelation.
The mages, who had been nursing their bruises, froze. They stared at the pristine furniture and then slowly turned their eyes toward Goku with a predatory, intense heat.
"Goku! I heard you want to be S-Class!" Natsu roared, charging over and throwing an arm around Goku's neck. "Join my team! I'll take you straight to the top! You, me, Louise, and Happy—we'll be the 'Invincible Fire Dragon Squad'!"
"It's Lucy, not Louise! And that name is terrible!" Lucy yelled.
"Aye! Let's call it the 'Invincible Meow-Meow Squad'!" Happy chirped, pulling a fish out of his satchel.
"You're only thinking about yourself!" Lucy snapped. "And I never said I'd join you!"
*THWACK!*
Natsu was suddenly sent flying by a kick from a young man wearing nothing but his boxers. "Gray Fullbuster," the ice mage, scoffed. "Going with Natsu is a one-way trip to nowhere. Joining me is the only smart move."
"Gray! I'll burn you to a crisp!"
"Try it, you squinty-eyed fire-breather!"
As Natsu and Gray locked horns, a girl with short blue hair and a studious air, Levy McGarden, approached Goku with a smile. "Goku, would you like to join 'Shadow Gear'? We could use someone with your... unique talents."
Mirajane leaned in to explain to a confused Goku. "In the guild, friends often form teams for missions. Combining different types of magic makes jobs safer and more efficient."
She understood exactly why everyone was suddenly desperate to recruit him. The Master always told them to go all-out on missions, but the constant property damage resulted in endless complaints and fines. If they had a member who could fix everything with a wave of a finger, their problems would vanish.
Plus, Goku had already proven he was a powerhouse in a brawl. He wasn't just a "support" mage; he was a heavy hitter who could pay for himself by fixing the collateral damage.
