Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: The New York Wizarding Street

"How did you just perform that Apparition?"

Once little Goku had teleported back into the Headmaster's office, Dumbledore questioned him with meticulous detail.

Goku thought for a moment. "I just did exactly what you said. I visualized the location of Hagrid's hut and spoke the incantation. But I felt an invisible force trying to block me from breaking through space to get there."

"That is only natural," Dumbledore nodded. "Hogwarts Castle is protected by Anti-Apparition charms cast by the four founders. No wizard can Apparate within these walls." Dumbledore himself could only do so by leveraging the power of Fawkes the Phoenix, and House-elf teleportation utilized a different branch of magic entirely—Elf Magic.

"But right then, I sensed Hagrid's ki," Goku continued. "I used his ki to lock onto the location even further. I pushed with all my strength and broke through the barrier. Then, I was standing right in front of Hagrid's hut. Coming back was the same; I sensed your ki inside the room to guide me."

Goku explained the entire process of his successful Apparition. Dumbledore listened intently, his mind gradually reaching a state of clarity.

Goku had mentioned that every living thing possessed ki—from a tiny blade of grass to a massive beast. Ki was inherently more aggressive and raw than magical energy. By using ki to fuel the Apparition, Goku could effectively "brute-force" his way through the ancient Anti-Apparition wards. Combined with his ability to lock onto a person's life force as a beacon, it made sense that he could bypass the founders' enchantments.

"It seems your version of Apparition is far more potent than the standard form!" Dumbledore sighed with admiration.

His awe wasn't just because Goku could ignore security wards. Standard Apparition required the wizard to have a clear memory of the destination; if you hadn't visited a place, you couldn't Apparate there.

But Goku's method transcended this. He didn't need to have seen the location—he just needed to sense the ki of someone standing there.

Goku's Apparition wasn't just a means of travel; it was a perfect tracking spell. If Goku memorized someone's ki and they were within his sensory range, they could never hide. Goku could blink directly to their side at any moment.

"Let's test the range of your ki sensing and the maximum distance of your Apparition," Dumbledore suggested, moving into testing mode.

Normal Apparition has distance limits; stronger wizards can travel further. An average adult wizard might only manage to teleport within a single city. For longer distances, they relied on Floo Powder or Portkeys.

High-level wizards like McGonagall or Snape could cross between cities. Dumbledore himself was capable of international Apparition.

After a series of tests, the data on Goku's abilities became clear.

If he Apparated normally—using a mental image of a location—his range was slightly superior even to Dumbledore's. This wasn't surprising, as Goku's internal energy reserves surpassed Dumbledore's magical capacity. However, if he used the "Ki-Lock" method, the distance was limited by his sensory range.

Currently, when Goku focused his mind, he could sense ki within a fifteen-kilometer radius. If a target moved beyond that circle, he could no longer lock onto them.

Still, it was formidable. In a battle, unless an enemy could instantly flee fifteen kilometers away, they could never escape him. And as Goku noted, his sensory range grew as his overall strength increased.

Dumbledore realized that if Goku became powerful enough, his "radar" might eventually cover the entire planet. If that happened, no one on Earth could ever hide from him.

...

The Christmas feast concluded. A full and satisfied Goku waved goodbye to Dumbledore and vanished from the castle with a sharp *crack*.

Since Halloween, his evening training had shifted from magical beasts to dark wizards. Previously, Dumbledore had to side-along him across borders, but now Goku was free to hunt on his own.

He arrived in the New York Wizarding Street in a flurry of pops and cracks. He had been here once before, but not for hunting. Dumbledore had previously taken him to France, Germany, and Spain to track down high-profile fugitives, while simultaneously introducing him to the various magical districts around the globe.

Dumbledore's reasoning was that the other worlds Goku might visit would likely contain similar cities. Familiarizing himself with these locations now would aid his future adventures.

Indeed, New York was a city Goku had never heard of in his own world, but it had appeared in the Marvel world he visited previously. Uncle Logan had mentioned a school for mutants located there.

Goku pulled out a magical "Wanted" poster.

MACUSA Most Wanted: Nigo Hunigo.

Crimes: Massacred 123 No-Majs and 4 Aurors. Countless smuggling of Dark Artifacts. Former follower of Gellert Grindelwald. A staunch Wizarding Supremacist. Powerful and extremely dangerous. Reward: 5,000 Galleons.

The wizard in the moving photograph looked back at him with a cold, haughty sneer. This was his target for the night.

"First, find the black market for clues," Goku muttered.

Having hunted several dark wizards with Dumbledore, he was well-versed in the routine. Dumbledore had taught him that every magical street in the world had its own version of Knockturn Alley. If you found the shady spots, the black-market dealers were always willing to sell information on the local criminals.

If he couldn't find the first guy, it didn't matter. He had nine other posters in his pocket. He'd just move down the list. One of them was bound to turn up.
