Chapter 114 - Apocalypse

As the ark went online, so did the entire remaining population of the world fall asleep right at the arks doorstep.

A beam came from the centre of the ark that shot into the sky and slowly, the large grounds of sleeping animals that stretched tens of thousands of miles were now being transformed into a mass of flesh that was now being absorbed into the beam of light shot out from the ark.

Slowly but surely, an entire civilization was being devoured by their own choice.

"So in the face of Armageddon, they opted for martyrdom. If we can't have this world then no one can, not evens god. Well let's see what the ark creates from they genetics." I said to myself as I was watching the development.

As the ark had finally completely devoured everything that could be considered living, the beacon shut down and the ark began working internally, I could've looked inside to see what was being cooked up but I decided to surprise myself.

As the ark began constructing something the black sludge I had created on a whim to devour the world and induce an artificial apocalypse neared closer to the ark.

I was a little upset that this last phase of the experiment had made them commit mass seppuku but my curiosity triumphed that displeasure.

Eventually the assembly within the ark stopped and there was silence for a moment.

And then there was a bang and then another and another. The ark kept on making loud knocking sounds and the outside of the ark had some cracks that kept forming and widening with each knocking bang.

It was as if something was trying to get out of the Ark.

And that premonition was right. In one last bang, something burst forth from the ark metal and machinery flying everywhere.

The figure that came out was interesting to say the least. It stood up, giving me a full view of its appearance.

A eight foot bipedal with a lizard tail.

It's body was pitch black with glowing orange and yellow cracks going over his body like magma in the earth that had cracked the land. Two orange suns filled the pitch black head to form eyes.

The creature opened its mouth, it's grin stretching from ear to ear, it's teeth long and razor sharp.

It's reptilian tail containing fish tail flaps and swaying in the wind.

Seeing this catastrophe, I realized immediately what the ark was for. They had combined all of themselves into this guy.

Consolidating their entire history of natural selection into the ultimate biological weapon.

After all, if you want to combat the apocalypse, then why not create your own apocalypse.

As the creature got its thoughts straight, it finally eyed the black sludge that was approaching.

Seeing this, the creature roared so hard that it caused a shockwave that intercepted the sludge.

The sludge stopped and then began morphing itself into various monsters that began charging at the creature.

Seeing this the creature readied it's stance and then fought them off with precision and efficiency.

As the fight went on, the creature began sprouting appendages from its back and molding it's arms in weapons and channeling magical power into these appendices and biological weaponry.

Seeing this made me realize the terrifying implications of this things existence," Oh my word, this is thing is basically Venom but with magic."

The creature created tendrils that effortlessly made webs with electrical currents and paralyzing agents to ensnare and paralyze monsters.

It transformed its arm into an extremely long claw and then generated lightning and abyss cores and fired to create a nuclear railgun.

Obviously this thing had a ridiculous regeneration and resistance factor but that wasn't the thing that most interested me.

Aside from me, this thing was using Chaotrons with minimal strain.

This apocalyptic genome archive was a one man army and was fending off the onslaught of thousands of monsters.

I see now that the machine wasn't their ark, this thing was. This creature was their last hope at reclaiming their home and they were pretty successful.

But in the altered time of the dome, years went by as this creature endlessly fought the black sludge, getting stronger and gaining advantage over the end, that impending destruction became less impending.

And finally at long last, this creature dubbed Darwin had won. It had finally defeated Armageddon.

It was alive… and alone.

Finally accomplishing it's reason for existing, Darwin didn't feel any sought of satisfaction.

Don't mistake this creature for a mindless creature, if anything, it was the opposite.

Yet feeling the realization, it could help but feel empty, it had nothing left to do but end it's life.

"Wait." The creature stopped as it heard a voice from behind.

It turned around and found a humanoid figure there but one that I've never once seen. And in a deep growling voice, subject Darwin spoke, "Are you…god?"

"In general? No but to you, Yes. My name is Simon Winters and you can technically consider me your creator."

"Can you… kill me?" The creature sounded feral but also hopelessly desperate.

"Why? I'd assume a creature like you would want to live no matter what?"

" I was encoded with the desire to fight back, not the will to live. My cells are constantly screaming to kill you and then sleep, I have no reason to exist other than to slaughter."

I listened to the creature and walked forward. Seeing this, the creature panicked not wanting to start a fight with god.

I put my hands at the temple of it's head, the creature closed its eyes out of fear for what I and itself would do.

But the next second, it's gained some form of clarity. The immensely strong biological urge to just kill everything had subsided.

Like a wave that blended back into the ocean, the instinct to kill had been concealed into his consciousness, still there but not capable of controlling his consciousness.

It opened its eyes and found that I had retracted my hands off of it, " My mind is clearer than ever… what did you do?"

" I simply healed your ailment." It's actually more complicated than that. I used Nyx's ultimate skill Gretchen to revert the minds urges, an ultimate skill that exists to clear the mind.

"Why did you do that? Wouldn't it be easier just to kill me."

"Why do you still want to die?" I asked concerned.

"I was born in a world that went extinct for the sake of fighting that extinction and now I'm all alone in a world fighting a meaningless battle."

I held out my hand towards the monster infront of me, " First, let me show you what my world has to offer."

With a little hesitation, it took my hand and we were all ready to take off.
