Chapter 57 - The blessing of birth

The next day…

Good morning.

"Good morning," Aelira said, smiling.

Did you get some good rest?

"Yes I did, thanks for being here," Aelira said, tearing up.

I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner, but I'm here now.

Hours passed, and Aelira began to give birth…

Minutes passed, then hours, and the next day at 1:30 AM the baby boy finally arrived…

"Congratulations! It's a baby boy," the doctor said as he cut the umbilical cord and wrapped the baby in a blanket.

Then the doctor handed the baby over to Aelira…

"What should we name our baby boy?" Aelira asked, still trying to catch her breath.

How about Arthur, after my old man?

"Arthur, I like it," Aelira replied as she fell asleep with the baby in her arms.

A week passed, and Aelira finally went home…

At home…

"Where have you been these past twelve months?" Lio asked.

Uhh, well you see.

After Aerin explained his time training with Michael, becoming The Angel of Order, and how he now needed to discover all the abilities he had been gifted…

"What! That's unbelievable!" Lio said.

Ya, so I'll be taking some time to reflect on my Soul. It shouldn't take but a few months though.

Then Aerin left and entered seclusion…

One month passed, and Aerin began to change not just mentally, but physically…

Huh? That's strange. I can see the entire universe along with its space-time continuum now.

It's like my perception has left The Surface Layer of the universe and entered the more fundamental layer that I was told about, The Labyrinth.

But my body is still on The Surface Layer. So does this mean I can separate my soul from my body?

But how? I can still feel the connection between my soul and my body, but it's almost like I can survive without my body.

"That is correct Aerin, you can exist as just a soul, but not just that, now you have eternal life as The Angel of Order," a voice said from beyond.

"And now that you have realized your existence as the protector and keeper of The Surface Layer, I will reveal to you your powers," a voice from beyond said as Aerin began absorbing incomprehensible amounts of information.

With that, Aerin returned his Soul to his body and left his room to meet his son…

Hello little Arthur.

The child opened its eyes.

Huh, you have eyes just like mine used to be. Mine used to be grey, but then I changed.

I hope you grow up to be more like my old man than me. I'm afraid I've lost my way.

But don't worry, I'll protect you and your mother as long as I live.

"Would you like to hold him?" Aelira asked as she handed Arthur over to Aerin.

It would make me the happiest man in the world.

Three years passed, and it was time for Arthur to start preschool…

Alright little man. You all packed and ready to go?

"Yes, father. Can we fast travel there? It's fun fast traveling places," Arthur asked.

Alright, just this one time though.

Then Arthur climbed on Aerin's back, and in an instant they were at Pam's Play School, and Arthur's first day of preschool began…
