The shock quickly receded, instantly replaced by the sharp, scrutinizing gaze that defined Evangeline. She narrowed her eyes, assessing every detail of his face through the glass.
"Hmm... Silver, is it?" she said, her tone deliberately cold and feigning indifference. "I don't care. I am not coming with you under any circumstances."
An expression of theatrical disappointment washed over his face in the mirror, and he tilted his head sideways. "Why? Is my Queen abandoning me so easily?"
"No," Evangeline shot back firmly. "Your tricks are just rather foolish. What is it that you want from me, then, and mostimportant who are you?"
