Chapter 129 - Chapter 8 (Part 2)

...

Rotsard made one exception for keeping his injuries a secret.

He told about it to the only person he knew he could trust, his fiancee, Mira Vultress.

As such, the tall black-haired girl was waiting for him by the cafeteria entrance and even demanded to help him. As such, Rotsard ended up being fed by her, and afterwards Mira would insist on leading the so-called rehabilitation, where she aided Rotsard with moving his fingers and right arm in general to assure that the full range of motions wouldn't be lost to him,

She even brought healing crystals with her just in case…

…and was overall, acting a lot more clingy without her earlier bashfulness, sneaking kisses whenever there was a chance, and timidly but surely making her way into Rotsard's lap and using the cute excuse of stroking her hair as the final exercise, just to get pampered…

But as the lunch break was coming to an end, so did their blissful time together.

"Tsar, I think that you and that nurse might be wrong about your blood."

"...how so…?"

As she was leaning in for the parting kiss, Mira suddenly said, giving Rotsard quite the surprise.

"She said it's basically dead, and you told me you think that's because of your training in the cold room. I think… Well, I'm quite certain, actually, that's one of the side effects of my potions."

"...!"

Mira pointed out, making Rotsard's eyes widen.

"You see, my potions did a lot of things to you. The one you thought was poison, for ex-am-ple…!"

The black-haired girl started pointing and poked at Rotsard's chest with her finger to the rythm of the pauses in the last word, grumpy about the memory.

"It cleared your body of all impurities and poisons, but it was also influenced by outside factors. Since you got a severe internal injury and went into a cold room immediately after, the remnants of my potion influenced your body to aid you. What I believe happened was that your blood thickens several times over when there's an injury, to prevent you from bleeding out. Within healthy veins and aortas it flows properly, but it turns almost gelatinous if there's an opening or a break to clot it a lot faster than it would be natural. What that nurse examined and told you about was that cloth. Your blood is fine and it's easy to check… look."

Mira explained and grabbed Rotsard's left forearm and pressed her index and middle fingers to his veins.

Only a moment later, a strong and stable pulse was felt by both of them.

"See? That's not mana flowing freely through your body. That's your blood getting pumped by your heart. Everything will be fine."

"...yeah…"

Mira then put her hand over Rotsard's chest and reassured him, which made him open his mouth only to close it again before he nodded and showed her a faint smile.

The bleached-blond-haired youth seemed relieved, but also… a bit troubled.

"See you after the lectures, then?"

"Maybe not today. Right after lectures I have a duel, and after that I will be accepting more challenges, so I can't say how long it will take, don't wait for me."

It was already high time to part ways and Mira asked timidly, but Rotsard shook his head, explaining with a light shrug…

*chuu*

And that was when Mira snuck in a kiss.

"No. I will be waiting, so come whenever you want."

"Okay, I will."

She pouted and grumbled cutely, making him chuckle and nod.
