Chapter 13 - Heinous Criminal

"You are supposed to be teachers," Leah snapped. She tried to suppress her power that was getting stronger with every passing second. This was one of the most embarrassing things that had ever happened to her. Maybe the karma for snatching food from someone's mouth was finally coming to get her.

Jeremy shifted her hands such that he was holding her hands in one of his. And even though the situation was as embarrassing as possible, even as she hated the man for touching her like that, she couldn't help but feel how warm his hands were against her skin. Or how her cold skin shivered when he touched her. How his fingers were curling around her wrist.

Leah pushed her treacherous beast down and then fixed a scowl on her face. Fortunately, the men in front of her still had some restraint as her teachers because neither of them looked down past her face.

It should have settled her heart, but Leah ended up feeling even more disturbed.

"Leah," Josh spoke in a quiet voice. And the second he called her name, Leah felt her beast call out to him. But the man was frowning hard while rubbing the neck of his goose.

He came forward, but the second he took a step, Josh immediately paused and then glared at her as if she was the cause of this. And honestly, she was indeed the cause of his reactions, but she did not ask for this. If it were up to her, she would have chosen someone else, someone more normal, as her mates.

She knew what was going on. Their beasts were asking them to give in to their whims, but there were too many issues attached. First, they were her teachers and not just anyone who could take her as their mates, secondly, even if she was their student and a feral shifter in their eyes, Leah was still a minor and under the care of her stepmother. Eww, double eww.

Anyway, the point was that they were not normal. Nothing about this situation was normal, and Leah wondered silently what the goddess was even thinking when she tied their fates.

None of them trusted her, and she did not trust them with her secrets and powers.

"I am glad that you know that we are your teachers," said Jeremy in that silent yet authoritative, powerful voice of his. "I was starting to think the way you were treating us was like you were unaware of who we are. Do you have any idea how much we had to work hard to track you down?"

Leah's heart sank lower in her abdomen, and she was forced to recall that, no matter how tied up they were, they were, in the end, in a situation that was not favourable to her.

She struggled hard and snapped, "I did not ask you to follow me." She did not want to be caught, and she did not want to be thrown into the academy either.

"And do you know that we had to join hands with the human policemen before they stopped trying to shoot your ass down?" Josh glared at her. His eyes were wild and furious. "We do not work with humans, but we had to because a certain student did not know any better and was bent on causing trouble for us. You could have got all of us killed, Leah. Humans do not like shifters, and you know that, but you still ran down to this stinking human society. What? Were you hoping for the humans to do your dirty deed?"

Leah was shocked. Her eyes widened, and her throat started to choke with the feelings that were running wild in her chest. "No! I did not want that. I would never …I would never put you all at risk. I … I just thought that you would not chase me if I were to run to the human society." Her voice became weaker as she could sense that they did not trust a single word coming from her mouth and as much as she hated the feeling, Leah told her that it was for the best.

Josh eyed her for a while before nodding at the other two. "She is not lying; I can sense the truth from her."

His words caused Jeremy's grip to tighten around her wrists. "But that does not change the fact that she was running from her punishment. She killed someone; the least she can do is repent."

Leah knew that his anger was more toward the fact that she ran from them after she found out that they were mates. There was no denying that what she did was nothing less than heinous and sinful in the eyes of her kind.

But despite the sting, Leah stayed quiet; that was until Xavier made his move toward her and her eyes widened in terror.

"No!"
