Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The System and Strategy

I blink again, this time not at sunlight or snow, but at something else—something impossible. Floating in front of me, translucent and glowing with faint silver runes, is a panel. A system panel. My pulse quickens. My mind races. This… this is exactly the kind of tool I need.

I hover my fingers over the interface instinctively. Four main functions stand out.

Summon SCPs – One random SCP per year. The note says it will arrive in my location automatically. Dangerous, unknown… but potentially powerful allies—or threats.

System Points – Earn points for securing objects, writing files, building infrastructure, or creating anything that helps the Foundation. The more impactful, the more points.

Shop – Twelve items, refreshed monthly. The description warns: "Contents may vary from divine weapons to cursed artifacts." So this is a gamble… high risk, high reward.

Chat System – A direct line to the other four. Apparently, everyone already has their own version of this system.

I immediately open the chat. The others have already been active, strategizing like the true titans they are. I send my first message:

"Good morning, geniuses. Let's see what we can do with this system."

Almost instantly, messages pop up.

Julius:"Good. I've started assessing the military. Rome's legions can form the backbone of our operations. But we'll need loyalty checks."Darius:"I've shadowed our contacts across regions. Information is key. We can make or break a kingdom before anyone even notices."Cleopatra:"I've started turning the treasury into… well, let's say it's ready for future expansion."Sun Tzu:"We need a framework. One that unites military, intelligence, and administration. Every move must have purpose."

I lean back, letting the words sink in. My mind catalogues, analyzes, and starts connecting threads.

We are not just building a Foundation; we are constructing the hidden infrastructure of the entire world—a shadow beneath kingdoms, a force beneath the surface of history itself.

I type my response:

"We all have immense power, resources, and armies. Let's assign roles. Julius—you build and control the military. Darius—you handle intelligence and covert operations. Cleopatra—treasury, resources, and diplomacy. Sun Tzu—strategic planning, war doctrines, coordination. I will oversee technology, infrastructure, research, and… the Foundation itself."

The chat goes silent for a moment, then:

Julius:"Agreed. My legions will be loyal. We will form the initial core of the Foundation's enforcement arm."Darius:"I'll recruit spies from every corner. Nothing escapes our notice."Cleopatra:"I can secure loyalty among merchants, generals, and foreign powers. Gold talks… or rather, I will make it sing."Sun Tzu:"Perfect. We must also teach the system's mechanics to our most trusted aides. Points, shops, SCPs—they are all tools, not toys."

I smile. Yes. This is exactly how it should start.

We spend what feels like hours in the chat, but in reality it may have been minutes. We discuss:

How to secure subordinates – loyalty, training, indoctrination into the Foundation's ideals

Integration of armies – Julius' legions as the core, with other smaller forces folded under his command

Covert intelligence networks – Darius' agents embedded across continents, ensuring we know everything before anyone else does

Resource management – Cleopatra turning wealth and influence into a system for expansion

Strategic coordination – Sun Tzu designing contingencies for any rebellion, invasion, or anomaly

Finally, after extensive debate, we all log off the chat for the first time.

I float in the snow, system panel still hovering, thinking. My fingers trace the holographic interface as I explore the functions. Points, shops, SCPs… each is a lever, a tool. I catalog them in my mind, calculating how to maximize efficiency.

I smile faintly. One SCP per year? That is enough. Our foundation will not rely on anomalies—they are bonuses, not crutches. System points? We will accumulate millions by the time we are ready for large-scale operations. Shops? We will treat them as experiments.

The others are preparing too, each mastering their abilities, testing limits, and discovering nuances. Julius tests the influence of his silver tongue, molding generals to obey unconditionally. Darius merges with shadows, disappearing and reappearing across miles. Cleopatra practices transforming objects into gold, learning the subtle limits of the Midas Touch. Sun Tzu trains scouts and officers in tactics I can already calculate before they think of them.

And me? I am memorizing everything. Every report, every resource, every subtlety of the system. I feel the gears of the Foundation beginning to turn—even before we have begun to build.

This is only the beginning.
