The energy coursed through Damian like a river, branching out into every limb, every nerve, every fiber of his being. It filled his legs, his arms, his fingers and toes, before converging back toward his chest with an almost magnetic pull.
When it reached the center of his sternum, Damian heard a sound like a lock clicking open, deep and resonant, as if some hidden door within him had been unsealed. The world around him shifted, the mundane details of the room dissolving into nothingness.
At that moment, nothing existed except for him and Hazel.
