I got to the coffee shop early again, it seemed to be a pattern with us at this point. I ordered two drinks this time, my usual black coffee and a caramel latte for Mira. I'd noticed her ordering it the last time we met and I took note of it and hoped I remembered it right.
my head snapped up when I heard the bell at the door ring and saw her walking in fifteen minutes later than the said time. She looked exhausted, her hair pulled back in a messy ponytail and she was still in her work clothes, dark circles under her eyes that made something in my chest twist. She spotted me and walked over to me and sat down heavily across from me.
"Bryce got a scholarship," she said the moment she sat down. No hello, no how was your day and I hope your day was okay just straight to the point. typical Mira. Nobody was going to change the fact that she really hates me just because I'm Sloane's Beta.
