"Mr. Kon, please have a seat."
Inside the dimly lit interrogation room, a single desk lamp illuminated a dark gray, highly textured metal table. Two utilitarian chairs sat on opposite sides, compounding the suffocating, heavy atmosphere of the room.
"I assume... we can skip the standard formalities?"
Mr. Kon, Kenji's father, was wearing a pair of silver handcuffs, yet he showed no trace of panic. Maintaining a perfectly composed, effortless posture, he sat directly across from the uniformed detective.
"Heh, no need to be tense. We are very grateful for your whistleblowing, and, of course... your self-surrender. What follows is simply a routine conversation."
Seeing his subject get comfortable, the detective flipped open a thin manila folder to get straight to business.
"First question. On [REDACTED] date, your security systems triggered a maximum-threat-level alert. Yet, we found absolutely no records of any dinosaur escaping that day. Care to explain?"
"Because that dinosaur... I honestly don't even know if you can call it a dinosaur anymore. In short, it wasn't one of our island's assets. None of the geneticists under my payroll engineered it."
The detective flipped through the pages, revealing a helicopter crash report near Isla Sorna stapled to the primary case file. However, there was no record of the aircraft's origin, serial numbers, or corporate ownership.
"Second question..."
The detective closed the folder, slid it to the edge of the desk with one hand, and then laced his fingers together in front of him. Leaning forward, he locked eyes with Kon.
"What is the story behind Subject 6 and the Ghidorah-ceratops?"
Mr. Kon paused for a fraction of a second before answering:
"Subject 6 was authorized by me. From a phenotypic standpoint, that asset was a flawless recreation of a dinosaur Jurassic fans have fantasized about for decades, the Ultimasaurus. My intent was to commercialize it for maximum profitability."
"As for the Ghidorah-ceratops... it was an accidental byproduct born from the exact same batch of genetic sequencing as the Ultimasaurus. Protocol dictated that this creature... should have been terminated immediately. However, some of my personnel covertly kept it alive and protected it."
Mr. Kon's expression remained as unreadable as ever. The detective assumed a contemplative posture, seemingly testing the man's words for logical loopholes. Leaning over the table, he pressed further:
"If that is the case, why were they released three days after the initial lockdown alert cleared, resulting in multiple casualties?"
"..."
"I don't know. At the time, I was personally accompanying my son and his friends on a tour..."
…
The breach by DG-3273 had completely crippled the island's primary power grid, compromising multiple paddock containment systems.
Big Eatie and Little Eatie had already been medevaced off the island for emergency triage and medical care. While backup generators kept the core park infrastructure stable and engineers scrambled to patch the perimeter fencing, a critical oversight occurred.
The Ultimasaurus paddock suffered a secondary short-circuit immediately after it was supposedly repaired. The heavy containment doors hissed open.
THUD... THUD...
Massive footpads stepped onto the concrete. Was that thing... a dinosaur?
It possessed the horned skull of a Triceratops, the towering torso of a Tyrannosaurus rex, elongated, functional arms, a spine lined with osteoderms and spikes, and even the heavy tail club of an Ankylosaurus.
It was the ultimate manifestation of bloodsport culture. Though its actual skeletal anatomy wasn't optimized for practical biomechanical combat, it flawlessly fulfilled the hyper-aggressive "living war machine" fantasy demanded by underground high-rollers.
"Uh... Dad? Is this part of the tour?"
Kenji was behind the wheel of the automated gyro-sphere transport vehicle. Mr. Kon sat in the passenger seat, while Darius and the rest of the Camp Cretaceous kids occupied the rows behind them. Kon had intended to take the children out to take their minds off things after the recent trauma...
Instead, a relaxing drive was turning into a death trap.
"Aunnng-roar!"
"Step on it!"
The Ultimasaurus let out a piercing shriek and bolted directly toward Darius and the group. Engineered strictly for the gladiatorial arena, its genome had been spiked with a massive sequence of highly aggressive behavior-altering traits to optimize combat drive.
The transport vehicle accelerated to speeds its manufacturer never intended, yet it was still being rapidly overtaken by the apex hybrid!
"Head for the treeline! It's too big! It won't clear the canopy!"
The transport vehicle whipped past a stray, terrified scientist in a white lab coat. The man watched the vehicle vanish into the brush, then turned his head only to see the Ultimasaurus barreling directly toward him.
"[Highly civilized language]—"
He dove wildly behind a thick trunk, but a second later, both man and tree were violently plowed aside like toothpicks!
"What the f—"
Kenji's driving was erratic at best. After swerving past various utility structures and leaving a trail of shattered equipment and fleeing staff in his wake, he finally spotted a reinforced concrete facility.
Are you secretly working for the dinosaurs too?
CRASH!
The Ultimasaurus slammed face-first into the massive structure, severely denting the reinforced plating as a metallic echo reverberated through the valley.
BANG...
Abruptly, an echoing impact resonated from a stone perimeter wall not far away.
"Kenji! Where on earth did you take us?!"
"I don't know!"
"Are you even looking at the road?!"
"If I stayed on the road, we'd be dead by now!"
The teenagers began bickering with their usual terrible timing. Meanwhile, Mr. Kon studied the exterior of the facility, muttering under his breath:
"This structure... it isn't marked on any official park map."
CRACK!
Debris erupted outward as the containment wall shattered.
The Ultimasaurus snapped its gaze toward the noise as the silhouette of the Ghidorah-ceratops emerged from the dust!
The creature shared the same fundamental frame as the Ultimasaurus, but its long, heavily muscled forearms terminated not in claws, but in two fully formed Ceratopsian heads.
The two auxiliary heads possessed no higher brain functions of their own, but they retained rudimentary visual tracking. Visually, they resembled a pair of massive, flesh-and-bone parrying daggers built directly into its wrists.
The two abominations stared each other down, invisible sparks flying between them. A chance meeting in this artificial hell; let's tear each other to pieces.
BOOM!
With terrifying synchronization, both hybrids lowered their armored crests and charged, initiating a brutal, old-fashioned Ceratopsian headbutt!
Four massive brow horns locked together with a sickening crunch, neither side yielding an inch of ground. Seizing the deadlock, the Ghidorah-ceratops thrust its left arm-head forward, driving its sharp horns into the opponent's underbelly. It successfully drew first blood, but the awkward angle compromised its leverage!
The Ultimasaurus instantly twisted her skull, using her immense neck strength to flip her assailant onto the dirt. The Ghidorah-ceratops used its momentum to swing its heavy ankylosaurian tail club, striking the Ultimasaurus hard enough to derail her follow-up attack.
The Ghidorah-ceratops scrambled to its feet clumsily. The Ultimasaurus surged forward again, attempting to latch onto its throat from above. Anticipating the bite, the Ghidorah-ceratops snapped its head up, catching the blow on its thick neck frill and pushing the attacker back.
Attempting to capitalize on the opening, the Ghidorah-ceratops charged again to ram its horns deeper into the soft underbelly. However, the proximity was too close to build adequate kinetic force; the Ultimasaurus sidestepped and delivered a brutal flank-check, sending the multi-headed monstrosity crashing down once more.
Evading a desperate swipe of the clubbed tail, the Ultimasaurus clamped her jaws around the mid-section of the Ghidorah-ceratops's tail, pinned the flailing beast with her foot, and ripped the appendage clean off with a violent snap of her neck!
Deprived of its counterweight, the Ghidorah-ceratops struggled to maintain its balance. It managed to stand, but the Ultimasaurus lunged from above, locking her crushing jaws directly onto its exposed windpipe!
Under suffocating pressure, the Ghidorah-ceratops found itself entirely pinned. In a feral frenzy of survival instinct, it began blindly and repeatedly stabbing its arm-horns into the Ultimasaurus's stomach. Crimson and mangled viscera spilled across the grass.
…
"Both monsters bled out right there together. That's all."
Inside the interrogation room, the lighting remained cold and unchanging. The detective's finger tapped rhythmic, hollow thuds against the metallic table.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Kon. You are dismissed for now. Your formal sentencing and asset forfeiture notice will be delivered within three days. We will contact you if further deposition is required."
Mr. Kon offered a shallow, polite bow of acknowledgment, stood up, and turned toward the door.
"There is one thing I don't understand," the detective called out, stopping him in his tracks. "With your resources and political capital, you could have easily buried this incident. Yet you chose to surrender, dragging another conglomerate and your own corporate empire down into the grave with you. Why?"
Mr. Kon stopped, turning back slowly.
"For my son, naturally. And..."
"For profit."
A chilling, predatory smile spread across his face, catching the seasoned detective entirely off guard.
The detective opened the manila folder once more, revealing a secondary appendix on the DG-3273 file.
