Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: Thor Breaks Down, Dark Elf Invasion!

Not just Thor and Odin—even Nick Fury and Tony Stark immediately understood what was about to happen.

This was clearly the event mentioned in Lucas's diary. Next, they were likely going to witness the death of the Queen of Asgard with their own eyes.

There was no doubt about it. They didn't know if the future here could be changed, but at least in the timeline Lucas knew, it had already happened and was irreversible.

Meanwhile, on the screen.

The situation in the dungeons alarmed all of Asgard, including Queen Frigga, Jane Foster, and Thor, who were in the palace.

"What's going on? Why is Jane in Asgard?" Thor was surprised. He didn't expect Jane to be there.

"Did you bring her back to meet us? This is the girl you had feelings for on Earth, right?" Odin teased.

Although this wasn't the best time to meet his daughter-in-law, seeing his son finally open up to romance made him happy.

In Norse mythology, why was Sif considered Thor's official partner? Because Odin arranged it.

To be precise, he hoped Sif would be Thor's partner.

Thor had been an adult for a long, long time, but he was obsessed with fighting and killing all day. He had no interest in the throne, and worse, he seemed to have no interest in women.

How could Odin not worry? So even though he wasn't satisfied with Jane Foster, a human woman...

It wasn't prejudice. He knew humans were short-lived. Generally, they died in a few decades.

People like the Ancient One who lived for centuries were rare.

This woman looked nice, but for an Asgardian, a relationship with her was meaningless.

In twenty years, she would be old and dying. But his son? In twenty years, two hundred years, or even two thousand years, he wouldn't change much, except maybe becoming more mature.

Their lifespans were on different levels. How could there be a good ending?

Jane Foster would be dead for ages, and to Thor, it would just be the duration of a nap.

They weren't in the same league.

When she died, his son would suffer for a long time. That was the price of choosing a human lover.

But at least his son was finally interested in someone. Since he had a long future ahead, even if he spent a few decades with this human woman, he would have plenty of time—centuries—to heal his broken heart later.

Of course, this was just a fleeting thought in Odin's mind.

On the screen, the three realized something was wrong.

"The prison!" Frigga looked in the direction of the blaring alarms and reacted instantly.

"Loki!"

Thor's first thought was his brother's safety.

"Go. I will look after her," Frigga understood Thor's concern and said immediately.

But she probably never imagined that this parting would be forever.

"No, no, no! Don't go! Don't go! Don't go!"

Outside the screen, Thor couldn't hold back his tears. Even when he learned of his father's death, he wasn't this sad, this broken.

Back then, he passively accepted the fact that Odin had passed away. He was immersed in grief and didn't have time to react.

But now it was different. He had enough time. He was watching his mother step towards death, step by step.

Death wasn't scary. Sudden death was nothing to fear.

The scary part was watching yourself (or your loved one) die bit by bit. That feeling drove people crazy.

Thor was facing this maddening situation now. Beside him, Odin clenched his fists, revealing the turmoil in his heart.

But Thor's pleas were useless. In the video, he flew towards the dungeon with Mjolnir. He arrived just as the battle reached its peak.

"Return to your cells, and I promise you will be spared!"

Thor looked at the prisoners before him and spoke coldly. "You really are stubborn and ungrateful."

Obviously, they didn't listen. Thor immediately began suppression.

The scene shifted again. It was Odin.

He walked while instructing the guards around him: "Send a squadron to the armory. Defend it at all costs. Secure the dungeons!"

"Odin!"

At this moment, someone called him. It was Frigga.

"Frigga?" Odin looked at his wife and daughter-in-law, then waved at the soldiers. "Go! Hurry!"

"It's a skirmish. Nothing to worry about," Odin told his wife after giving orders.

"You've never been a very good liar," Frigga replied.

"Take her to your chambers. I'll come for you when it's safe," Odin instructed.

After their brief show of affection, they parted ways.

Frigga drew a sword and turned to her daughter-in-law, Jane Foster. "Listen to me. Whatever I say, you must do. No questions."

"Yes, ma'am," Jane answered obediently.

The scene shifted again. Heimdall, guarding the Bifrost, noticed something amiss.

He sensed an intruder. He ran to the bridge immediately. Right in front of him, the outline of a spaceship shimmered into existence.

He chased after it, leaped, and stabbed the ship down with his sword.

But it was useless. A massive mothership (the Ark) decloaked and flew straight in. Smaller harrow-ships launched from it, piercing Asgard's defenses.

The pilots were Dark Elves.

Asgard's anti-air defenses activated automatically, shooting down several ships. But more ships rushed in, overwhelming the system.

An aerial dogfight erupted. In the end, the Dark Elf ships broke through, charging deep into Asgard.

At the critical moment, Heimdall raised the palace shields.
