When Maki spoke, they heard something completely different. It was the same as the voice of the Anomalies. His voice was layered.
When an Anomaly spoke, the sound was never just one voice. It was several voices stacked together, some deep, some whispering, all speaking the same words at the same time. The tones echoed and overlapped.
When it talked, the words came out in overlapping echoes, as if different versions of the same voice were slightly out of sync. One syllable would begin before the previous one finished, creating a disturbing harmony.
Its harmony was split harmonics.
The voice carried multiple pitches at once. A low growl rumbled beneath a thin, sharp whisper, while something in between hummed like vibrating metal. Every word sounded like it was being spoken by a crowd wearing the same mouth.
And lastly, that crowded voice imagery.
Maki's voice sounded crowded, just like those Anomalies. It was as though dozens of speakers were packed together behind his lips. The tones slid over each other, merging into a single sentence no human throat should have been able to produce.
They couldn't believe it.
They knew for sure no human could imitate that sound. But what was happening now? The one standing right in front of them was speaking with the same tone, the same layered voice, like he was an Anomaly himself.
Tsunade stood up from her seat, shock written clearly across her face. Nemuri's hand flew to her mouth, but her wide eyes said everything. She was just as stunned.
But for Maki, the one who had spoken those words, it felt completely normal. To him it was simply another language he had known since childhood. He didn't even realize he had used it. It felt natural. What his ears heard were just simple words.
For the others, it was entirely different.
No one spoke.
Silence fell over the three of them.
Tsunade slowly sat back down in her chair, but she still didn't say anything. She was trying to process what she had just heard, and denying it would be like claiming she didn't have ears.
The silence was finally broken by Nemuri. She looked up at Maki's face and asked,
"What was that just now…?"
Maki looked down at her in confusion, as if asking what she meant. He had no idea he had done something unbelievable.
Speaking the language of the Anomalies?
That was absurd.
Nemuri frowned and continued.
"Your voice earlier… it sounded the same as those Anomalies."
"My voice?" Maki raised an eyebrow as he repeated her words. "Sounded like those aliens?"
He tilted his head slightly.
"What do you mean?"
He genuinely didn't understand what was going on. Why were they so shocked about it?
That reaction only left Nemuri even more baffled.
Tsunade, who had been silent the whole time, finally spoke.
"Maki… right? Do you perhaps understand what those Anomalies were saying?"
Nemuri looked at Tsunade, then back at Maki.
His deep voice answered naturally.
"Weren't those aliens just shouting about their freedom and bragging about themselves?"
They heard him clearly.
BAAANG....
Tsunade slammed her palm against the table. She leaned forward, resting her elbow on the surface and clasping her hands together, deep in thought.
"Whaaaat?!" Nemuri exclaimed. "Maki, you can understand those aliens' words?!"
Maki stared at her.
"What do you mean? Don't those things speak the same language I do… just with some accent?"
Now Maki was the confused one.
None of them were understanding what was happening here.
Even the one who was the source of it all.
Silence settled between them again.
But Nemuri broke it once more.
"Maki, that's really unbelievable. You can understand the words of the Anomalies? That's really, really unbelievable."
She spoke with obvious enthusiasm and curiosity.
"Hm…" Maki muttered. "I didn't even know I was speaking like them."
Then he added calmly,
"Is that something to be shocked about?"
"Of course it is!" Nemuri said immediately. "Do you know how many scholars and scientists are trying to decipher the mysteries of the Anomalies, including their language? If we could understand them, it might open entirely new possibilities for humanity."
"Really…" Maki replied in a deep tone that made it obvious he wasn't particularly interested.
Nemuri could tell.
Her mouth twitched in irritation. Then she punched his chest with her fist.
"What do you mean 'really'? You don't get it, do you?!"
Maki's hand was still resting on her head, calmly stroking her hair.
"Okay."
That simple answer only made Nemuri even more annoyed. She lightly pinched his hand in retaliation.
Tsunade watched the two of them quietly.
She couldn't fully process it.
This man had information that could change everything. If he could understand the language of the Anomalies, it could lead to a revolutionary discovery.
Yet he clearly didn't care.
She shook her head in disbelief.
"Maybe Mother knows something about this… I'll contact her later," she muttered.
Then she looked back at the two of them.
They were already lost in their own world.
Their lips were pressed together. She could hear the sticky, wet sounds of their kissing. Nemuri's hand was gripping Maki's jaw as she devoured his mouth. Saliva glistened and dripped between their lips.
Their tongues teased each other. Nemuri's tongue slid against his, their soft flesh overlapping as she slowly circled his tongue with her own.
Wet sounds echoed between them.
Maki's hand gripped Nemuri's chin, lifting her face closer to his while his other hand squeezed her breast. His fingers sank deeply into the soft flesh that was barely covered by the pink towel.
"aaaahh~ Ahhhhh ~ ahh~"
Nemuri's moans slipped out between their kisses.
Tsunade was now watching a live performance of the two making out right in front of her. She could feel the heat building in her own body as she watched them.
But before things went any further, she finally spoke.
"Hey… hey. Calm down, both of you. Let's finish this first before you continue whatever that is."
Nemuri's right eye rolled lazily toward Tsunade while she was still sucking on Maki's lower lip. Then she pulled back slightly, breathing heavily.
"Want to watch more, Sis Tsuna?" she teased.
Blunt as ever, Tsunade replied,
"Oh really? Then let's finish this first. I can't wait to watch you act like a bitch, Nem-nem~"
Nemuri smiled slowly and licked her lips.
"Then you can watch freely… Tsunade-sa-ma~"
The two women stared at each other.
And for a moment, it seemed like all three of them had completely forgotten the shocking discovery they had just made.
