Inside the Chamber
Maki stood at the entrance of the treehouse. He opened the door and saw that the inside of the house was completely empty.
No furniture.
Not a single thing.
Just wooden walls, a wooden roof, a wooden floor, and a wooden window—with no glass in it.
He didn't wait. This time, he didn't clasp his hands or chant an incantation. He simply focused his vision on the very center of the floor and imagined wood forming into a table and a chair.
Instantly, a wooden table and a wooden chair were created.
He then moved forward to a corner of the flat house, next to the open window, and imagined another structure. The wood beneath the floor molded itself upward, forming a wooden bed. It shaped itself into a simple bedroom, just large enough to accommodate his size.
The house had a tall ceiling, about five meters high, and the interior was slightly dim.
In his mind, he opened the system panel.
He selected the Pocket section, where his stored items were kept.
Rows of square columns appeared, each containing images of stored items. The panel extended endlessly—approximately 999,999 squares in total.
That was a lot of space.
He scrolled down and spotted the portable flashlight Nemuri had ordered online. He pressed it.
Outside the panel, the flashlight materialized in front of him. Before it could fall to the floor, Maki caught it.
He pressed the power button on the side.
A sharp click broke the silence, and a beam of light cut through the dim room.
Maki made a stand for the flashlight, positioning it so it illuminated the entire room.
He returned to the panel and selected more items—
a rice cooker,
a coffee maker,
a refrigerator,
a generator for electricity,
utensils, utensils, and many other necessities.
Even cooking ingredients were pulled out from the system.
All of it had been ordered by Nemuri, clearly showing how worried she had been for Maki.
( ^▽^) in the monitoring room, Mei and Nemu watched as an empty house was filled with daily necessities.
They stared in disbelief.
Wasn't this supposed to be a survival test?
Wasn't he meant to act like a survivor trapped on an island?
What happened to the mechanics?
What happened to the whole survival process?
They could only watch as Maki's area turned into a normal, fully equipped house—right in the middle of a dangerous ancient forest.
( ^Д^)Maki knew nothing about this.
He didn't even know he was being watched.
He calmly made himself a cup of black coffee, sat down on his chair, and enjoyed it—completely unbothered by the chaos happening to the other examinees.
Unbothered by the bewilderment of the two women monitoring him.
He took a sip from his cup and muttered softly,
"Uh… this is life…"
( ・ω・)In the Monitoring Room
In the monitoring room, Mei, Nemuri, and Nemu weren't watching a survival examinee doing his best to pass the test.
They were watching the daily life of a man.
Not only that—Maki had even set up a 64-inch flat-screen TV inside his treehouse. He sat there calmly, watching while enjoying his cup of coffee.
Nemu tilted her head slightly and whispered,
"Um… how should I grade him?"
Mei didn't say anything. She was still mesmerized by Maki—and who knew what she was dreaming about again.
Nemuri simply smiled as she watched him.
She was the one who had stuffed all those things into his pocket. The very first time Maki told her about his magic—his ability to make things appear and disappear at any moment—Nemuri had grown curious, and Maki had moved closer to her.
Then he pressed his right hand against her chest, and suddenly, the clothes Nemuri was wearing disappeared instantly.
Of course, that little magic show didn't end with just magic. It ended with Maki teasing Nemuri.
Since that day, Nemuri had constantly asked—and pestered—Maki to go out shopping with her. She had honestly thought his skill was perfect for shopping. The pestering didn't stop for an entire month.
Of course, Maki always said no.
Seeing him use that same skill again during this test made Nemuri want to ask him out on a date once it was over.
She licked her lips and quietly continued watching him.
( ノ^ω^)ノUnlike Monitor 1013, the other monitors were buzzing with activity. Assigned watchers were carefully and precisely calculating points. Every movement, reaction, and encounter was being recorded.
Many examinees had already asked for help. When that happened, the assigned watcher would contact the group inside the Chamber tasked with assisting participants who wished to quit and escort them out.
These rescuers were, of course, selected U.A. students—chosen for their ability to act as quickly as possible.
But why U.A. students?
That was part of the plan created by the Dean of U.A.
This test wasn't simply about new students trying their best to survive and earn points to enter U.A.
Inside this Chamber, second-year U.A. students were also taking their first exam of the year.
Their job was to ensure that new examinees were rescued safely and swiftly. The longer it took a second-year student to save a participant, the more points would be deducted from their grade. Losing too many points was equivalent to receiving a 75% or lower.
And if they failed to rescue a participant within the required time?
That meant only one thing—they failed the exam and would have to take a brutal summer remedial test.
And of course, none of them wanted that.
Come on—it was summer. Taking an exam instead of chilling?
Nope. Never.
The classes assigned for this round were the U.A. Second-Year Class S.A.B.
Last year, only three classes were formed due to U.A.'s strict policies. The elites among the elites were chosen, resulting in only three second-year classes.
This time, five students from Second-Year Class S were assigned to the Black Ribbon Chamber.
The one monitoring them was a true powerhouse—an underground protector of Japan whom U.A. had personally invited.
She was Yoruichi Shihōin, also known as the Flash Goddess.
Yoruichi Shihōin is a slender yet athletically fit woman with a curvaceous frame and average height. She has dark skin, golden irises, and black hair. Her hair is waist-length, tied into a ponytail, with chin-length bangs framing her face.
Her standard attire consists of a black, backless, sleeveless undershirt; an orange over-shirt with two white straps on each shoulder; a large beige sash around her waist; and black stretch pants paired with lightweight brown shoes that allow for stealth and ease of movement.
She occasionally wears long beige wrist and leg warmers secured by bands.
