Ellen was confused about what Flint was really thinking. Just when she wanted to clear up the misunderstanding and decide to help him solve this major problem, Flint flatly rejected her. Even though Flint had seemed fine with her when her parents visited. Was that all just an act?
"Why don't you want me involved in your problems?" she asked disappointedly.
"Because the problem I'm facing now is not safe for you."
"Then, what about you? Do you want to face everything alone?"
Flint crossed his arms. "Why are you so eager to interfere in my complicated matters? Aren't you afraid?"
Her hands were clenched tightly. Her eyes were focused on her lover's handsome face. "I'm more afraid of losing you, actually."
"What?"
"If I truly lost you, I wouldn't be able to live in peace. Even if all my problems were resolved, I wouldn't be happy without you in my life."
"But if you get hurt because of me–"
