Chapter 84 - Chapter 83: The Drunken Man

Chapter 83: The Drunken Man

When the clock struck six in the evening, and the afterglow of the setting sun dyed the sky a shade of orange-red, the three of them finally arrived at the wooden cabin hidden deep within the forest.

They skillfully dismounted and carefully tied their horses to a thick tree not far from the cabin.

Then, the three decided to proceed on foot, quietly approaching their target.

As Johnny dismounted, he reached out and gently removed the carcano rifle wrapped in a thick cowhide holster from the side of the horse.

As their footsteps gradually neared the cabin, the terrain became somewhat uneven. When they climbed a small slope, their field of vision suddenly opened up.

Standing at the top of the slope, Kieran pointed toward the cabin not far ahead and said to the two in a lowered voice:

"Look, that cabin ahead is a stronghold of the ODriscoll Gang."

"In the past, that Colm especially loved staying in there to drink and revel to his heart's content, getting dead drunk and unconscious every time."

At this point, Kieran paused, a hint of disdain appearing on his face, and continued:

"However, the one guarding it this time should be a fellow named Porter."

"A while ago, Colm planned to go to Blackwater Town to rob a bank cruise ship, so he left this Porter here to guard the camp."

"I heard this guy is very dissatisfied with this arrangement and has been harboring a lot of resentment!"

Johnny handed the carcano rifle in his hand to Kieran and then picked up the conversation:

"Then he should be glad that this decision has let him live this long."

"Kieran! You don't have binoculars yet, so I'll lend you this gun to use. You and John will monitor their every move here for the next two days."

"I'll come to bring you food for these two days. Especially you, Kieran, you must not be seen by them. Otherwise, all our efforts will be in vain!"

Saying that, Johnny took out some canned food he often ate from his satchel, along with two bottles of kentucky bourbon, and handed them to the two.

Then Johnny held up an index finger and said:

"I have a plan. In two days, after that young master arrives, you and Arthur, John, will be responsible for shooting the guns out of everyone's hands."

"Kieran, you're in charge of protecting us, especially Arthur, who always charges in first. I'm worried he'll suffer for it sooner or later."

Kieran nodded vigorously after taking the gun, his gaze unable to stop focusing on it.

He had never touched such a high-end gun before!

John, who was nearby, thought for a moment, came back to his senses, and asked in confusion:

"What about you? You've finished saying what we're supposed to do, but what's your part?"

Johnny hadn't expected John to ask that and replied without much thought:

"You just need to execute my plan. I have more to consider. I need to coordinate the overall situation, like a brick—wherever I'm needed, I'll be moved there!"

With that, Johnny quietly left the mound and rode away on my dog... The place he was heading to for this trip was for a debt collection mission, where a Mr. Robel owed the Gang 80 dollars.

He hadn't gone far yet, having just arrived near Chadwick Farm north of Valentine.

Suddenly, a burst of noise reached his ears.

Looking toward the sound, he saw a burly, red-faced, and drunken man swinging his thick fists, brutally beating a frail woman.

The woman shielded her head and body with her hands while pleading bitterly:

"Stop hitting me! Please stop hitting me! I don't even want the money you owe me anymore! I still have two young children at home waiting for me to take care of them!"

However, her pleas for mercy did not inspire pity in the man; instead, they made him strike even harder.

Witnessing this scene, Johnny couldn't help but feel a hint of doubt.

After all, based solely on the woman's one-sided account, the truth of the matter couldn't be fully determined.

Therefore, he didn't immediately draw his gun to shoot the man who was committing the violence.

Johnny squeezed his legs against the horse's belly and galloped toward the man like an arrow released from a bow.

At the same time, his right hand tightly gripped a lasso, swinging it continuously in the air.

As the distance gradually closed, once he reached a suitable position, Johnny activated Dead Eye, locking onto the target in just an instant.

Immediately after, he threw the lasso in his hand with force without hesitation.

The lasso was like a nimble snake, carving a graceful arc in the air and landing accurately around the man's body.

Then, Johnny tightened the rope and maneuvered the horse to run quickly around the woman.

After just a few laps, he successfully subdued the man and rendered him unable to move.

At this time, the man, who was originally arrogant and dead drunk, had already been mostly sobered up by fear.

Because he discovered in horror that Johnny was holding a dark handgun pointed right at him with one hand, while the gun in his other hand was pointed at the woman nearby.

Johnny roared with a ferocious expression: "Listen up! I'm the one asking questions now, and you'll answer honestly."

"Does this man really owe you money? Is there a written IOU or some other proof?"

The woman tremblingly took a book out of her cloth bag, removed a well-preserved slip of paper from it, and handed it to Johnny.

Johnny glanced at it and then said to the man:

"Are people who owe money the bosses nowadays? Is there no law anymore? Do you have the money and refuse to pay, or do you just not have it?"

The man was already scared out of his wits. Facing the Equalizer of All Living Beings, he hurriedly replied that he had no money and had only done this by accident because he was drunk.

Johnny signaled the woman with his eyes to go up and search him.

The woman immediately searched him nimbly and soon found 40 dollars on him.

She stated that the other party only owed her 25 dollars and she didn't need the rest.

Seeing that the matter was exposed, the man, instead of being panicked, uncharacteristically said to Johnny fiercely:

"Are you a cop? Do you need to mind other people's business? If you've got the guts, shoot! I'll put my head right here! If you've got the guts, take it!"

Johnny hadn't expected the other party's attitude to change so drastically, but his anger was also being stirred up now.

In his past life, he hated this kind of situation the most—where the debtor is as fearless as a boss, while the person asking for their money has no way to do anything about it.

Now that he had transmigrated, why should he give someone like this any face?

Johnny suddenly let out a flying kick, landing it hard on the man.

With the force of this kick, the person who was hit flew out like a cannonball and was kicked far away in the blink of an eye.

Then, with an expressionless face, Johnny extended his right index finger and gently flicked the hammer of his handgun.

In an instant, a deafening "Bang!" rang out!

A Slugging Round whistled out from the muzzle, hitting the target before it even landed with lightning speed.

Instantly, the other party's body exploded like a pack of ignited dynamite.

Flesh and blood flew everywhere, splashing around like brilliant fireworks blooming in the night sky.

However, this bloody and terrifying scene didn't move Johnny in the slightest.

Because he had already anticipated this outcome, which was why he had kicked the other person so far away.

Otherwise, the clothes he was wearing, which had just been cleaned a few days ago, would probably have been splattered with blood.

The woman who witnessed this scene was already pale with fright, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.

Her eyes widened as she looked at everything happening before her in terror, falling into a state of extreme fear.

But despite the fear and panic filling her heart, the woman still tried her best to restrain the instinctive urge to scream out loud.

Because she clearly realized that this fierce-looking burly man before her was the savior who had rescued her from peril.

Thus, the woman tightly covered her mouth, desperately suppressing the panic in her heart, and stood silently in place, not daring to make a sound.

She only watched Johnny with full concentration, anxiously waiting for the next move he might take.
