"Who cares? He is killing them! LORD RAVEN!"
The cheer. The constant, continuous, unending cheer. The sound of men who were watching their leader fight naked on a battlefield and who were finding, in the sight, something that they had not felt in hours. Hope.
The monsters came.
The siege beasts. The quadrupeds. The house-sized, armored, four-eyed things. Three of them. Charging. From the demon lines. Toward the human lines. Toward the soldiers who could not fight things this size.
Raven walked toward them.
His bare feet on the ash. His naked body in the wind. His violet eyes on the beasts. The first beast charged. The jaw opened. The teeth showed. The eyes, the four red eyes, glowed.
Raven raised his hand.
