They collided once more at the center of the field with force, their fists connecting simultaneously against each other's faces with a wet sound that made several spectators shudder.
Adam felt his head snap violently to the side as Kael staggered back, both of them spitting blood onto the ground before regaining their balance and launching at each other again.
Kael landed a rapid series of blows to Adam's torso: left to the ribs, right to the liver, another left higher up.
Adam blocked the last one with his forearm but felt the impact resonate through his entire arm as he countered with a hook that Kael dodged by leaning back.
Then Kael did something Adam didn't expect.
He dropped low and swept Adam's legs from a low angle he couldn't anticipate, sending him crashing onto his back against the ground.
Before he could react, Kael was already on top of him with his fist raised.
The punch descended straight toward his face.
