Chapter 6 - A Lovely Day with my Bf

I walked into the cafe with my boyfriend, holding hands and a big smile on my face. "I always enjoy coming here. It's so cutesy and quant don't ya think, love?"

Joey grinned at me. "Oh yeah, I love it." I had been in a really good mood recently, and he seemed to be soaking up my high energy. We walked up to the register, I quickly placed my order, kissed Joey on the lips, and excused myself to use the bathroom.

The bathroom was tucked in behind a wall right by where we order so I walked past the wall to go to the restroom, but stopped short of entering. "That's you, girlfriend!?" I heard the guy working the register exclaim to Joey. Oh, they were talking about me? Well, now I wanted to know what they were going to say.

"Oh yeah, we've been dating for a while now," Joey replied, sounding rather casual. "Bro, you're dating Jessy!? How the hell did you score that!?" the cashier blurted out. I smiled at the comment—so nice of the cashier to help feed my ego.

"Well, we've known each other a long time," Joey responded, not really giving it much thought. "We've been dating since high school. Wait, how do you know her?" Oh, that was a good point. I had no idea who this cashier was.

The cashier laughed at the question, "man everybody knows Jessy. She's on the cheer team, and she's probably the baddest one on the team." I blushed a little at that, I mean, it was nice to hear such strong praises every once in awhile right?

"She's not bad," Joey responded, "she's actually a really good person. Hell all the girls on the team are from what Jessy tells me." Ah, Joey, ever my sweet little darling. "No man," the cashier chuckled, "I mean like she's hot as fuck. You're one lucky guy scoring a girl like that, man."

"Oh heh, thanks," I could almost feel Joey's uncomfortableness. It almost bothered me how much more the cashier was willing to talk so highly of my looks vs my actual boyfriend, well, almost.

"Though honestly, that's gotta be hard work too," the cashier commented, seeming to think to himself for a moment. "I don't think I could keep a girl like that. I mean, she's got to be having a wild time, and with how fit those cheerleaders are. Man, I don't think I'd last nearly enough for her to say yes more than once. Honestly, though, once would be enough for me, you know what I mean?"

That statement had given me some mixed feelings. I liked the sentiment, but after recent events with Barrett...

"No, I don't really get what you mean by that," Joey said in a flat tone. He clearly didn't care for the conversation anymore. The cashier did not seem to notice, or care. "Not to mention I'd be paranoid as hell, man. A girl like that, you know, every guy is trying to get her to say yes. Gotta stay on top of your game, man."

Ok, this is enough. I'll use the restroom later.

I walked back around the corner with a big smile. "Oh, hey, still ordering?" I asked, placing a hand on Joey's chest and kissing his cheek. "Nah, gotta pay," he said, giving the cashier his card. I could feel the cashier trying very hard not to get caught looking at me. Whatever, he can look all he wants. I guess everybody needs something to dream about.

Joey finished paying, and we sat down by the window. We spent some time talking about cheer practice and classes, and Joey mentioned wanting to travel home soon to see his family for a weekend.

As we talked, I saw one of my friends walking in with a guy I didn't recognize. "JESSY!" She screamed as she opened the door and rushed over to hug me. "SARAH!" I screamed back, jumping out of my seat and hugging her back.

We hugged each other tightly for a moment before she pulled away and looked me up and down. "Looking sexy as always, girl!" That made me smile really wide. I had chosen a long black skirt and a black fishnet top with only a black bra underneath to show off my body a little today. Joey had not commented on it except to note that it was new. He said it looked good, which is fine, but Sarah's reaction made me feel much better.

"Aw, thanks, babe! I got it at that new store around the corner. The top was on sale 50% off, and the skirt comes with pockets!" I showed off my pockets, and Sarah gleamed with excitement, "oh I am definitely hitting up that store after this!"

"I'm Ralph, by the way," the guy, whose name is apparently Ralph, introduced himself. "Nice to meet you," I responded kindly, not wanting to be rude. "Well, I'm going to get us some drinks, be right back," he said, excusing himself.

"So, um, new boyfriend," I asked Sarah. I hadn't heard of her dating anyone new. "Oh no," Sarah giggled, "I couldn't date a guy like that. But I don't mind screaming his name a few times. Seriously, that boy has so much stamina, last time I thought I might just lose my voice!"

"Oh yea I get it," I responded, and even to my ears that sounded awkward. "Hey, we're in college, I'm here to learn, and have as much fun as I can in the meantime." Yeah, Sarah's right, it is important to have fun.

"Oh, hey, you remember my boyfriend Joey, right?" I turned around, and Joey waved while mid-sip. Whoops, I guess I should've looked first. "Oh yeah, um, hey Joey," Sarah waved at him before pulling me away a little and whispering to me.

"You're seriously still with that guy? You know if you only ever have fun with one guy, you'll never get to explore new things." I just rolled my eyes, "hey we've been trying new things, so I think we've got that covered."

Sarah held up her hands in defeat. "Fine, you do you, girl. Honestly, it's kinda cool you found someone to give your heart to that you can trust, and so soon too. I mean, damn high school sweethearts, that's a textbook cutesy story right there."

Ralph came back with the drinks, Sarah and I said goodbye, and the two of them headed off. I'm glad Sarah is having fun, and I'm glad she's not pushy about how I should have fun.

Joey and I finished up and headed to his dorm. His roommate was basically never at the dorm, so we often times just slept together at his place. I, for one, never really wanted to disturb my roommate.

We walked in, and Joey kissed me nice and deep, his hands on my hips. I kissed back, but not nearly with the same passion. I should, today has been a lovely day, and I was truly and genuinely happy. It's just... I wasn't in the mood for tonight is all. Nothing wrong with that, that's normal...

"Everything ok, love?" Joey asked, having clearly noticed my lack of response to his advances. "Oh yeah, totally. I'm just kind of tired, is all. I think I want to tucker in." Joey kissed my cheek this time, being the gentleman I could always count on him to be. "Of course, love, I'm going to get changed, and I'll head over to bed."

Joey put on some shorts and a t-shirt. I, for one, just stripped down to my underwear. We rolled into bed, cuddled up, and Joey was soon deep asleep. I couldn't sleep, though, my eyes kept wandering over to my phone. I don't know why, I just kept looking over at it as if expecting something. Today was perfect, so why did it feel just slightly off?
