[IRIS POV]
Yvette's shoulders tensed up, and her ears burned red at the pack members' disparaging words. She was clearly uncomfortable being the center of negative attention.
"You'll get used to it," I whispered under my breath mockingly, loud enough for her to hear. "There will be a lot of other opportunities for people to curse you."
Yvette's eyes flashed with anger, and she moved like she wanted to hit me. I dodged it and whistled a jaunty tune, purposely keeping it soft, so that we could all hear the rude comments. I was considerate like that.
The road to the dungeons was long, and everyone had their own twist on this matter.
I caught how Yvette chanced a hopeful look at Caius from the corner of her eyes, wishing that he would put a stop to it, but Caius remained coldly silent, choosing to walk behind us as though he was herding Yvette to her new home.
