Phoebe looked around the restaurant before slowly turning to Raymond, her eyes silently demanding an explanation. Raymond merely gave a calm nod.
"After you, Miss Fortunata."
"You brought me all the way here... just for dinner?"
Raymond nodded without the slightest hesitation.
"Damn it," Phoebe muttered under her breath. "I honestly thought you were taking me to some high-profile corporate event. You gave me a dress like this and told me to take as much time as I needed to get ready."
A faint smile tugged at Raymond's lips.
"I did that because I know you prefer to look your best whenever you step outside." His gaze lingered on her for a brief moment. "And because you look breathtaking tonight."
Phoebe sighed softly.
"Honestly... looking this put together was the last thing on my mind. My thoughts are still a complete mess."
"Yet you still chose to wear the dress," Raymond pointed out smoothly.
She clicked her tongue.
