Raymond re-established the connection, calling his father again. "I intend to intercept her location. Tonight," Raymond demanded, his voice cold enough to end any debate.
"You should be asking her that. Inquire whether she even wants you anywhere near her or not," the patriarch countered smoothly, systematically holding the leverage.
"I don't operate on permission, not from you, and certainly not from her!" Raymond hissed, his eyes darkening with dangerous intent. "I'll be there whether she wants me or not and she'll think it happened naturally."
"Obstinate," his father remarked flatly, dropping the clinical assessment without a single flicker of emotion.
A dark, cynical smile cut across Raymond's features. "Isn't that the one thing I inherited from you?!"
A brief silence paralyzed the receiver before the older man offered a dry, bitter smile on his end. "Let us formulate the hypothesis that the genetic defect is the only exceptional element you successfully extracted from me."
