A large hand wrapped around her waist, and Zoe Pierce froze.
Her body went rigid. She turned her head to the side and found his face looming over her.
Miles Sherman only had to dip his head slightly to see her trembling lashes and the way she cautiously raised her eyes to meet his.
They were so close. An inch more, and Zoe could kiss his Adam's apple.
'Should I kiss him, or not?'
The question popped into her head, unbidden.
'If I don't make a move, will Miles?'
As if sensing her gaze, the Alpha's Adam's apple bobbed uneasily.
On some strange impulse, Zoe leaned in and pressed a kiss to it.
'She couldn't resist the temptation, not when she saw the desire warring with restraint in his eyes. He had just pleaded with her to love him. Maybe this… maybe this would show him she wasn't entirely indifferent?'
His bobbing Adam's apple suddenly met with a warm, soft touch.
