She was supposed to be comforting Miles Sherman, but Zoe Pierce ended up feeling melancholic too.
"Well... let's just take it one step at a time," Zoe Pierce said.
'Weren't they talking about him? How did it end up being about me again?'
"No matter what, Miles, you have to believe in your choices." Zoe Pierce decided to just go for it. 'After all, the heart is ultimately biased, and this wasn't a matter of principle.'
'It was only natural to side with a friend over reason.'
"We'll all support you," she said.
'She only says that because she has no idea what I'm thinking,' Miles Sherman thought.
But seeing Zoe Pierce's radiant smile, he smiled back. "I know."
Seeing that his mood had finally relaxed, Zoe Pierce even gave him a mischievous suggestion: "If you need help, ask Nathan Lockwood. He's full of ideas."
Miles Sherman hadn't specified the problem, so she was thoughtful enough not to ask.
