Even though he had the title of "temporary boyfriend," Aaron Xavier knew it wasn't real.
It was a subtle distinction that everyone was tacitly aware of.
"Miles, are you going to tell Zoe you don't want to be with her?" Aaron Xavier had never been manipulative with Miles Sherman, but he was resorting to it now.
'Miles's idea is dangerous.'
"You already got what you wanted, and now you're going to play the good guy?"
"You were the first one to mark her. You were the first one to hold her when she was heartbroken."
"Miles, you've hogged all the good parts. Am I just supposed to watch from the sidelines?"
Aaron Xavier pursed his lips. "You don't have to do anything."
"But don't go tell her that." He lowered his head. "I'm begging you."
Aaron Xavier never begged. He would rather have his bones broken and his teeth shattered, would rather endure the pain and bleeding, than ever beg anyone for anything.
Miles was left speechless.
