Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Woke Up Too Fast, Saw a 70-Year-Old Man Walking as if Flying

Qin Shou despised this woman and had tried every trick in the book to humiliate her.

But who would have thought... his grandfather's reputation had gotten dragged down with him.

But his grandfather didn't seem angry at all. In fact, he was beaming at Gu Shengsheng.

"Becoming her apprentice... that doesn't sound half bad. It's been a long time since this old man has gotten to feel like the junior."

Qin Shou continued to shriek, "Grandpa, snap out of it! If you become her apprentice, does that mean I'll have to call her 'Great Ancestor' or something?!"

'Grandpa, you're so wild, have you ever considered my feelings?'

In any case, Qin Shou was about to explode with rage.

Qin Guocheng found him too noisy. "Look at this pathetic display," he said. "Go stand on the side. I'm talking business here. And in the future, stop coming out and being a public menace. Just looking at your face gives me altitude sickness."

"Did you think it was a coincidence we named you Qin Shou?"

The corner of Qin Shou's mouth twitched. He looked as if his entire worldview was crumbling.

Qin Guocheng ignored him and walked over to the stone in front of Gu Shengsheng, looking as if he had just discovered a priceless treasure.

For a man of his age and experience, being flexible was second nature. He called out to Gu Shengsheng with remarkable ease, "Little Master, you're incredible!"

Gu Shengsheng was clearly taken aback, unable to handle such an elderly man calling her "Master."

She quickly said, "That was just a joke. Please don't take it to heart, Mr. Qin."

As she spoke, she prepared to leave with the raw stone. It was getting late, and the market was about to close for the day.

But to her surprise, Mr. Qin spoke to her with great sincerity. "I've taken a liking to this stone, Miss Gu."

"Would you be willing to sell it to me? I'll offer 350,000 for it."

Qin Guocheng's offer was genuine. The System had given Gu Shengsheng a valuation of 300,000, so his price was more than fair.

Experts like him had their own sales channels; if he was willing to buy it, that meant he was confident he could make a profit.

Gu Shengsheng said, "It's a deal."

Once the Alipay transfer was complete, Gu Shengsheng left.

Her stubborn, slender figure, seen from behind, left the onlookers sighing with emotion. After all, for a newcomer to the market to possess such skill, she could certainly be called exceptionally talented.

Even Qin Guocheng had to admit, 'This young lady is truly remarkable.'

Qin Shou was about to lose his mind. He brandished the balance notification from his Alipay account and demanded, "Grandpa, the money you transferred to Miss Gu was mine!"

"Why should I have to give her my money? I earned that from my livestreams!"

Qin Guocheng was perfectly calm. "You said this card was for my retirement fund. I, in turn, paid Miss Gu. So, in essence, this has nothing to do with you."

"..." Qin Shou was speechless. He had to admit, the logic was sound.

"Grandpa, why don't you just teach me instead?" he pleaded. "Pass on all your skills to me, and I swear, your grandson will win back all the face you lost today!"

Qin Guocheng patted his head. "My boy, this era isn't for you. Your life is a tragedy, and your death wouldn't even make it a comedy."

"..." Qin Shou froze, petrified.

'His grandpa really was best when he kept his mouth shut.'

This time, he got genuinely angry and was about to argue with his grandfather, but Qin Guocheng silenced him with a single karate chop to the neck, knocking him unconscious.

The seventy-year-old man, spry as ever, hoisted his grandson over his shoulder and called out to the crowd, "Sorry for the embarrassing display, everyone! We'll be heading off now!"

The crowd waved back awkwardly, all thinking that this Mr. Qin was a bit... unusual.

Still, his mistake wasn't a huge deal. Even experts misjudged things from time to time; it was perfectly normal.

'But that Gu Shengsheng... was she really so incredible just because of luck?'

Gu Shengsheng chatted idly with her viewers as she walked home, her livestream still running.

The viewers in her chat were still hotly debating the topic.

"Streamer, you made over 200,000 in a single day! What kind of skill level is that?!"

"I used to think you were just a little bit better than the average person, but now I see how naive I was."

"Damn it. I finally have to admit I'm just mediocre."

"Not gonna lie, guys, I still think the streamer is just lucky."

Gu Shengsheng found the viewers' various takes and teases rather amusing.

She nodded and said, "You're not entirely wrong. In this industry, whether it's appraising antiques or gambling on stones, luck is more important than skill."

"For example, I walked the entire stone gambling market and didn't find any other stones of particularly high quality."

"When the entire market has almost nothing good to offer, it's naturally even harder for someone trying to find a hidden gem..."

"So, yes, I was just lucky. I hope I can be this lucky every day."

"I'll earn a ton of money and become a rich woman."

After she said this, some of the male fans—who made up a large portion of the appraisal stream's audience—spoke up.

"Let me be brutally honest, Streamer. If you earn that much money in a day, your future husband probably won't like it."

"Who would want a woman who's more capable than him? A woman should just clean, do housework, be a good wife and mother, and look pretty. That's enough."

"Exactly. The streamer's a woman, and she looks unmarried. You're probably not a very desirable partner to most men now. At least, I wouldn't like it."

"Once you're married, you should just raise kids, stay obediently at home, and serve your husband."

"..."

Hearing these comments, Gu Shengsheng didn't get angry. She knew there were plenty of morons in the world, but she hadn't expected to see so many in one place.

'It seems this is what the typical man-child really thinks.'

So she cleared her throat and said, "You all make some good points. However, I'd suggest you just hire a maid. Why would men like you need a wife?"

"With souls as noble and magnificent as yours, you should just go home and get a hug from your mommies!"

Those fans found her words grating.

They immediately retorted, "Why are you getting so defensive, Streamer? When you meet a man you actually like and he thinks this way, you won't be able to say no!"

"No woman can refuse to cook and bear children for the man she loves."

Listening to these painfully average yet incredibly confident men, Gu Shengsheng just felt a wave of nausea.

She said, "The only thing I can't refuse is someone walking past and secretly stuffing 10,000 yuan into my pocket. Anything else, you can forget it."

"As for men, I'm really not interested."

'After all, I'm about to get married, and my so-called husband has been dead for three years. A substitute marriage like this... come to think of it, it's not that hard to accept.'

"Ugh, so annoying! Ignore those dogs, Streamer!"

"Streamer, when are we going live to make more money tomorrow? I just want to watch you rake in the dough."

"Are we doing stone gambling again tomorrow?"

After a moment's thought, she replied, "I'll be live again tomorrow at the same time for more appraising. It's getting late, so I'm going to head home for now."

As for stone gambling, that market didn't have many good pieces. Going back would be pointless, so it was better to check out other places.

"I'll try a different market tomorrow."

With that, she ended the stream and answered an incoming call.

"Hello?"

"Gu Shengsheng, it's your mother! Where have you been fooling around all day? Get your ass back here right now and try on the wedding clothes! The Lu Family is coming to see you tomorrow night, so don't you dare embarrass us!"

And with that, the line went dead.
