And so, Shen Qing kept watch by Yu Jiuqing's bedside for the entire night.
Perhaps that fellow Chen Li was avoiding her, as he never appeared all night. He only sent two young servants over to help.
When the moon was high in the sky, Yu Jiuqing's terrifying fever finally broke. Perhaps because the ordeal had thoroughly exhausted him, the man didn't wake. Shen Qing sat by the bed watching him, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep leaning against the bedpost.
That night, just like the others recently, she slept more soundly than she had at any other time in the past three years. When she groggily awoke, brilliant light flooded her vision. It took her a moment to recall what had happened before she fell asleep, only to realize she was now lying in a soft bed.
'I'm in the bed... but where is Yu Jiuqing?'
Shen Qing shot up. Before she could even look around, a man's cool, pleasant voice reached her. "You're awake?"
