Zane Jennings caught her arm. His grip was light, but it was enough to stop her. His eyes crinkled as he smiled. "You know full well my intentions aren't pure, yet you still let me hold you?" He said her name, "Erin Lowell, are you starting to like me a little, too?"
At least she wasn't pushing him away like she used to.
Erin Lowell only knew she didn't mind him being close. "No."
"Then why did you let me hold you?"
He asked, his tone self-assured.
"Because I think you're a good person."
He'd saved her and helped her on so many occasions, far more than her own family ever had.
"So a good person gets to hold you?" It clicked for Zane Jennings. He made his decision in an instant. "Then I'll be a good person for life."
Erin Lowell pretended not to understand. "You're already a good person." She said, "I'm going inside."
Zane Jennings followed behind her, walking beside her shadow in the moonlight. "You smell like alcohol."
She answered without turning around. "I had a little."
