Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Yin Stream Shattered Jade

The Six Harmonies Killing Fist uses various techniques to channel the complex transformations of Qi Blood and power, making it more than just a simple set of forms.

The techniques themselves are secondary. The key is to control your power by manipulating your Qi Blood.

Only by mastering these fundamental power transformations can one intuitively grasp other martial arts skills later on, without developing any underlying flaws.

The Straight Thrust form trains fierce and hard Qi Blood.

Yin Stream Shattered Jade trains supple and yielding power.

Force isn't sustainable; yielding isn't defensible!

While direct, straightforward attacks are powerful, they leave numerous openings.

By learning Yin Stream Shattered Jade and controlling one's Qi Blood, power becomes more fluid. This allows one to block and deflect incoming force. It also enables a person to change the direction of an attack mid-strike, making it impossible for an opponent to guard against.

Even with their astonishing aptitude, the two of them only managed to grasp the basics after one class.

Yu Fei was slightly better off. He was starting to get a feel for it and would probably master the basics within a day or two.

When class ended, Jiang Yifan stopped Yu Fei and said with the utmost seriousness, "Yu Fei, today I realized how conceited I've been. I won't underestimate you again. I'll work hard, and I will do everything in my power to defeat you!"

Yu Fei stretched his slightly sore arms, gave Mr. Jiang a sidelong glance, and said flippantly, "And...?"

Jiang Yifan nearly lost control of his emotions, almost seeing red.

Forcibly suppressing his anger, he ignored the jerk.

Most importantly, Jiang Yifan understood one thing: right now, he was still no match for Yu Fei.

He couldn't win in a fight, and he couldn't win in a war of words.

Jiang Yifan would be on the losing end no matter what he did.

Lei Xiaoqiang happened to see Jiang Yifan saying something to Yu Fei, so he immediately started a rumor that Mr. Jiang's hate had turned to love, leading him to confess his feelings to Yu Fei, only to be rejected.

Although everyone knew it was impossible, they were exhausted after the martial arts class and were looking for a bit of fun, so they started to heckle.

Jiang Yifan stalked off, his face dark.

Yu Fei dragged Lei Xiaoqiang out and gave him a good roughing-up.

That night, Yu Fei fused the newly copied [Extraordinary Aptitude].

He tested it. The same talent couldn't be equipped more than once, nor could it strengthen his original one.

Fusing the blue talent yielded eight energy points. Why eight?

Because after he chose to fuse it, eight specks of glittering stardust floated around the Counter-Fate Pearl.

It wasn't enough to upgrade his talent, nor could it unlock a new talent slot.

The Counter-Fate Pearl was just an unremarkable orb. It wouldn't tell Yu Fei how much stardust was needed to upgrade a talent or unlock a new slot. Insufficient was simply insufficient.

Yu Fei felt a little emo.

For the next few days, Yu Fei focused most of his energy on the Ox Subduing Pile Skill. He was about to break through the skin-refining stage.

At Skin Refining Perfection, a Martial Artist's pores seal shut, and very little of their vital energy dissipates.

It also drastically increased one's defense against blunt-force trauma, and one's overall physique would be substantially enhanced.

Skin Refining Perfection has a distinct characteristic: the Martial Artist sheds a layer of skin, like a snake, and also loses all their hair.

Yes, it was an awkward fact. Upon completing the skin refining stage, all of one's hair and skin would be completely replaced.

In terms of appearance, this meant being exceptionally ugly for a few days.

Even a little frightening.

On Sunday morning, Yu Wei had made plans with a friend to go for an early morning run—a rare occurrence for her.

But she ran into Yu Fei, who was also up early.

Yu Fei had just woken up and was heading out of his bedroom to wash his face. He felt a numb itch on his cheek and, giving it a casual scratch, tore off a large patch of skin.

Seeing her brother's seemingly mutated appearance, Yu Wei was scared half to death on the spot.

"AAAAH—!"

The bloodcurdling shriek pierced through the 140-square-meter apartment and spread throughout the entire floor.

Moreover, it was dawn and the surroundings were exceptionally quiet, so the shriek carried out the window and traveled a great distance.

Three seconds later, Mr. Yu rushed out in his boxers. Mrs. Yu followed right behind him.

"Weiwei, Feifei, what happened?!"

That was Mr. Yu.

"Feifei, Weiwei, what's going on?"

That was Mrs. Yu.

Yu Wei pointed at Yu Fei, her voice on the verge of tears. "My brother... he's mutating!"

"Mutating?" they both exclaimed.

Yu Fei turned to look at his parents.

"Aaah!" they both shrieked.

The sun had yet to rise, and in the dim light, Yu Fei's face was peeling, with half an eyebrow hanging loose. He looked absolutely ghastly.

Seeing their son's appearance, the couple was scared out of their wits.

"Feifei...! You..."

Mrs. Yu's voice trembled. She clutched Mr. Yu's arm tightly with her left hand while taking a step forward, trying to understand what was happening.

"Can you guys have a little common sense, please!"

Yu Fei was at a loss for words. His parents didn't care about martial arts at all and had zero common sense about it.

"I've succeeded in my skin refining! I'm in the middle of my transformation phase. All my hair and skin are being replaced!"

Yu Fei explained.

Yu Wei's eyes lit up, and she said excitedly,

"So... my brother isn't mutating, he's undergoing metamorphosis?"

Just last week, Yu Wei had learned about insect metamorphosis in class, and she thought her brother's situation was similar.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK...

There was a knock at the door.

Mr. Yu went to open the door.

"Mr. Yu, what happened in here?"

The visitor's name was Gao Yunxiang.

The Yu family lived in apartment 1203. On their floor, only the adjacent apartment, 1202, was occupied. The owner was a 38-year-old man whom Yu Fei usually called Mr. Gao.

Hearing the shriek early in the morning, Gao Yunxiang had run over to check on the situation. As a Martial Artist, he had some experience handling unusual circumstances.

The two families visited each other often and frequently went out together on weekends. They had a good relationship.

As he spoke, he caught sight of Yu Fei's awkward state. But Mr. Gao was a man of experience and immediately offered his congratulations.

"Well now, this is incredible! Your Feifei has completed his skin refining!"

Gao Yunxiang did a quick calculation in his head. 'He started learning martial arts in his second year of high school, and it's only been two months.'

'Good heavens, his talent is almost too good to be true!'

Gao Yunxiang's eyes lit up.

"At this rate, Feifei is a prime candidate for one of the Seven Greats! Mr. Yu, you're set for life!"

"My, my, congratulations, congratulations!"

The "Seven Greats" referred to the seven most prestigious Martial Arts Universities in the Yu Kingdom. Anyone who got in was considered the cream of the crop, a true prodigy with a limitless future.

Only after hearing Mr. Gao's explanation did the couple finally relax.

Mr. Gao himself was at the fourth stage of the initial Martial Path realm. He hadn't managed to get into a Martial Arts University back in his day, so he had gone the dojo route instead.

Although his own strength wasn't exceptional, he was very knowledgeable.

Mr. Gao was extremely envious of Yu Fei. By the time he graduated high school, he had only barely passed the skin-refining stage. The typical admission requirement for a Martial University was around the third stage, so he hadn't stood a chance.

Seeing that Yu Fei had already broken through the skin-refining stage not even a full semester into his second year of high school, he started looking at the boy as if he were a rare specimen.

At his age, Mr. Gao no longer had any great martial ambitions, but seeing the exceptionally gifted Yu Fei, an idea suddenly sparked in his mind.

He usually just slacked off at his job at a local dojo, instructing students or helping people who loved martial arts but lacked talent with their fitness training.

As a bona fide Martial Artist, his income was considered quite good in their small county town.

He had thought he would just muddle through life one day at a time, never expecting an opportunity like this to fall into his lap.

Gao Yunxiang's mind raced, and ideas flashed through his head like lightning.

'Yu Fei's talent is incredible, but his father's income isn't high. This is an investment opportunity!'

After all, Mr. Gao had been in the martial arts world long enough to know the kind of influence a powerful Martial Artist could wield.

'Never mind anything else. My kid is in the third grade. If Yu Fei makes it big in the future and remembers this kindness, my son's path in life will be much, much easier.'

At this thought, Mr. Gao's heart burned with excitement.

"Getting such great news first thing in the morning... This won't do! Wait right here!"

With that, Mr. Gao hurried back to his apartment and returned carrying an unopened case of energy liquid.

It was a product of Jade Farmer Hall, twice as expensive as the common energy liquids on the market—and much more effective.

Mr. Yu tried to refuse the case, saying hurriedly, "I can't accept this, Mr. Gao! It's far too valuable!"

But how could an ordinary person like Mr. Yu stop Mr. Gao? With a gentle nudge, Mr. Gao moved past him, and before he could even react, the case of energy liquid was sitting in the middle of the living room.

Mr. Gao, however, exercised perfect control. Mr. Yu simply couldn't react in time; he wasn't knocked off his feet.

He was here to deliver a gift, not to start a feud.
