As expected, some people absolutely refused to leave.
Their reason was that they had a sick person at home who couldn't get out of bed.

But they still refused, saying the old man got carsick and couldn't handle a bumpy ride. If something happened, who would be responsible?

The man wasn't scared at all, shouting that the police couldn't just arrest people without cause. He hadn't broken any laws.
In the end, after a great deal of coaxing, they strong-armed Dai Yajun into signing a letter of guarantee, promising the village would take full responsibility if anything happened to the father. Only then did they finally agree to go.
Once they were outside, Shen Xin murmured, "You shouldn't have signed that."
Dai Yajun looked resigned. "Don't worry," he said. "I signed the village chief's name."
Shen Xin froze for a moment, then gave him a thumbs-up.
