"Why are you the only one back? Didn't I tell you to bring Hayes with you?"
"The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming up. The hospital didn't give him any time off?"
The old man was in the backyard, playing golf.
Silas Grant stood silently to the side. He had come straight from the airport, looking weary from his travels. He was still in a coat and formal suit, not yet having had a chance to change.
At the question, he said, "He's probably busy."
"Probably?" The old man smiled and turned around, staring at him for a few seconds as the smile in his eyes deepened. "Is he busy with work at the hospital, or busy recovering in the hospital?"
"…"
Silas Grant lowered his head.
The old man swung his final shot with force, finishing his exercise for the day. A nearby servant instinctively reached out, wanting to take the club.
But the old man bypassed the servant's hands, lifted the club, and swung again with all his might.
