Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Qin Family's Annulment Letter

Qin Muxue carried herself with an air of arrogance, her disdain for the Jiang Family palpable.

She pointedly ignored Jiang Chen.

Toward Jiang Han, however, she was slightly more polite.

After all, she was determined to go through with annulling the engagement today.

Besides, she had no desire to provoke Jiang Han, who was, after all, a powerful expert with Martial Master Cultivation.

To ensure things went smoothly, she gave Jiang Han a slight bow. "Greetings, Patriarch Jiang."

Jiang Han looked at the woman who had once been his son's fiancée. She was admittedly quite attractive.

But the moment he remembered her venomous heart, his expression turned cold.

He glanced back at his son.

He realized that Qin Muxue was completely unworthy of his son.

The more he looked at this woman, the more distasteful she became.

He then said coolly, "Qin Muxue, what brings you to our Jiang Family this time?"

He was already aware of her ruthlessness. In the past, he had even addressed her as his niece.

Now, he used her full name.

Qin Muxue, however, completely missed this detail.

She smiled, her expression haughty.

"Well, I've come today to annul our engagement."

What?

The other members of the Jiang Family, who were completely in the dark, were all stunned.

"Annul the engagement? Is this some kind of mistake?"

"That's right. I thought this Qin Muxue was a perfect match for our Jiang Family's Young Master Jiang Chen."

"Exactly. A handsome, talented man and a beautiful woman. Why would she suddenly want to annul the engagement? Could it be because..."

The clan members all looked toward Jiang Chen. Not long ago, his Martial Vein had been stolen.

The Patriarch seemed to be aware of this, but he had kept it quiet, so the other clan members didn't know the full story.

However, the news that Jiang Chen had become a cripple did eventually get out.

Qin Muxue's arrival to annul the engagement was clearly because she had heard this news.

Of course, the other members of the Jiang Family had no idea that this was all a result of Qin Muxue's own involvement.

They were still in the dark, thinking Qin Muxue was a fine young woman.

However, the members of the Jiang Family all knew that while Jiang Chen had indeed been crippled, he had made a miraculous appearance today. He was full of life and vigor, and had even easily defeated Jiang Zuo, a clan member at the Martial Artist Seventh Heaven.

How could anyone call Jiang Chen a cripple now?

Qin Muxue was trying to annul the engagement now completely unaware that Jiang Chen had already recovered.

At that moment, Jiang Men stood up, about to speak.

"Miss Qin, you must not understand the situation. Our Young Master Jiang Chen, he has already..."

Just as he said that, Jiang Han suddenly roared at Jiang Men, "Shut your mouth! Sit back down!"

This Jiang Men, not knowing the full story, had nearly let slip that Jiang Chen had recovered.

Hearing her request to annul the engagement, Jiang Han actually felt a wave of relief.

It was a good thing for her to be the one to initiate this.

He wouldn't have wanted a daughter-in-law like her anyway.

If Jiang Men revealed Jiang Chen's recovery now, it would only cause unnecessary complications and spoil the matter.

He reprimanded Jiang Men on the spot.

Jiang Men froze.

Seeing Jiang Han's stern gaze, Jiang Men flinched.

He quickly sat back down.

Fearing that other clan members might also let it slip, Jiang Han announced loudly, "No one else is to interrupt. Let Qin Muxue continue."

The few clan members who had been on the verge of speaking immediately shut their mouths.

The Patriarch had spoken. With the internal conflicts of the Jiang Family settled for now, everyone naturally obeyed him.

They didn't understand why Jiang Han wouldn't reveal the truth about Jiang Chen's recovery, though.

Qin Muxue, however, was stunned for a long moment.

She glanced at Jiang Men. He had clearly been about to say something, but Jiang Han had cut him off.

'I don't understand. Something feels off here.'

'Even the atmosphere in the Jiang Family hall feels... strange.'

She looked over at Jiang Chen. He was draped in a large coat, sitting there lazily, looking completely indifferent to her announcement.

'Something isn't right.'

'Why isn't Jiang Chen begging me to stay?'

Qin Muxue was puzzled.

Still, she couldn't let the annulment be delayed.

She addressed Jiang Han again. "Patriarch Jiang, things are as they are. Your son, Jiang Chen, is now a cripple."

"And I, Qin Muxue, am a genius with a Seventh-Grade Martial Vein. A cripple like your son is not worthy of me."

"I am like a star high in the heavens, while your son is nothing but an insignificant stone beneath my feet."

"So, in light of this stark contrast, I ask that you, Patriarch Jiang, agree to annul the marriage contract between our families."

She made her comparison.

It was a comparison she had devised to mock that worthless Jiang Chen.

'Isn't the Jiang Chen of today just an insignificant little stone?'

That's how she saw him.

Although Jiang Chen remained seated and impassive, he couldn't help but feel an urge to laugh at Qin Muxue's words.

'What a clear-cut comparison.'

'Putting herself up so high while trampling him so low.'

"Heh."

Jiang Chen shifted slightly, settling into a more comfortable position with a chuckle.

Qin Muxue shot Jiang Chen a contemptuous glance.

"What are you laughing at? Am I wrong, Young Master Jiang Chen?"

"You're even worse than a stone."

She had never liked Jiang Chen; she had only been using him to get her hands on the Jiang Family's treasures.

Now, in her eyes, Jiang Chen had outlived his usefulness.

Naturally, she was casting him aside like a useless burden.

Seeing Jiang Chen laugh made Qin Muxue's expression grow even more scornful.

Jiang Chen nodded.

"You're right. Go on, please continue."

He was simply silent.

He would not erupt in this silence; he would let everything brew within it.

He wanted to watch this woman continue her performance.

After all, a performance this spectacular was a rare sight.

In his thousand years since being reborn, he had rarely encountered such a freak of nature.

Jiang Han had long since lost his temper. He stood up.

He looked at Qin Muxue.

"Is this your decision, or the decision of the Qin Family?"

After all, the engagement was arranged by both families. If this was just Qin Muxue's personal wish, it would leave behind a troublesome loose end.

But Qin Muxue just smiled arrogantly.

With a wave of her hand, a letter materialized from thin air.

"Patriarch Jiang, this is a letter handwritten by my father."

"There is a letter of annulment inside. If you agree, just sign it."

A member of the Jiang Family took the letter and presented it to Jiang Han.

Jiang Han opened it in front of everyone.

It was, indeed, handwritten by Patriarch Qin, Qin Lie himself.

In the letter, Qin Lie began with some very sincere greetings for Jiang Han before abruptly changing his tone and stating his intentions directly.

Now that Jiang Chen was a cripple, he could not, of course, allow his daughter Qin Muxue to marry him.

He hoped Jiang Han would understand, and that both families could agree to annul the engagement.

Attached was a formal letter of annulment.

The letter of annulment would be effective whether it was signed by Jiang Han or by Jiang Chen himself.

However, Qin Muxue couldn't even be bothered to look at Jiang Chen, so she told Jiang Han to sign it directly.

After reading it, Jiang Han said to his son, "Son, do you want to take a look?"

He looked at his son and saw that he, too, seemed utterly disgusted with Qin Muxue, showing no reaction to her whatsoever.

He breathed a huge sigh of relief.

'This is for the best. It avoids any further entanglement between them.'

Jiang Chen considered it for a moment.

He nodded. "Alright. I'll give the Qin Family's letter of annulment a look."
