Chapter 83 - Whitebeard Shatters a Ten-Thousand-Meter Sea

Tenma's gaze was icy cold.

He had stirred up such a colossal spectacle for one reason only—

To force out the true power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, to see just how strong that legendary ability said to be capable of destroying the world really was.

On the seas of the New World, aside from those rotten governments and the Marines, the only one who could truly ignite Tenma's desire to fight… was the Whitebeard standing before him!

Hearing the terrified cries of his sons, the fighting spirit in Whitebeard's eyes burned even hotter.

Even back when he faced that madman Golden Lion, he had never seen an aerial assault on this scale.

He took a deep breath, his massive chest rising and falling violently.

Every muscle in his body swelled as if pumped full of air, veins coiling beneath his skin like living dragons, as though they might burst at any second.

Bang!

The Supreme Grade Blade Murakumogiri was slammed heavily into the bow of the ship, buried deep in the wood.

On the violently rocking deck, the old man stood firm like a stabilizing pillar of the sea.

Whitebeard suddenly spread his arms wide, fingers clawed, and viciously grabbed at the empty air before him.

It felt as though he had seized hold of an invisible barrier of space itself.

"Haah!!"

With a furious roar, he wrenched both arms downward!

At that moment, the destructive power of the strongest Paramecia erupted in full.

Vmmmm—! Vmmmm—!

The atmosphere seemed unable to bear the strain, letting out a teeth-grinding wail.

Space itself twisted out of alignment, as though heaven and earth were being torn apart by this single motion.

The surrounding sea—stretching ten thousand meters in length and width—was sliced apart as neatly as a cake.

The ocean ceased to behave like a liquid.

Under the terrifying shock force, it was forcibly lifted as if it were solid matter.

Towering waves surged upward against gravity, piling into mountains of white foam, as if trying to crash into the clouds and slam headfirst into the descending abyss.

Rumble—rumble—!

It sounded like continental plates colliding.

Like Mars crashing into Earth, the scene was so magnificent it stole the breath from anyone who saw it.

Tenma had seen tsunami-type attacks many times before, but empowered by the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, the destructive force had multiplied geometrically.

This was no longer just the impact of water—

It was infused with vibration waves capable of shattering everything.

Such a wide-area attack directly sealed off the kind of touch-based control tactics used by Golden Lion's Float-Float Fruit.

With an area this vast, not even a god could coat the entire battlefield with Armament Haki.

Though seawater was far less dense than rock, it now used softness to overcome hardness, forcibly bracing against the island's downward momentum.

Even with the terrifying speed amplification of the More-More Fruit, the island's descent was still forcibly checked by this omnidirectional shock tsunami.

But—

It still wasn't enough.

The island continued to press downward, carrying an unstoppable, crushing momentum.

Whitebeard's eyes sharpened.

With his right hand, he snatched up Murakumogiri from the bow.

Boom!

The deck let out an explosive roar as the Moby Dick sank sharply downward.

Using that terrifying recoil, Whitebeard's massive body shot skyward like a cannonball.

Moonwalk exploded beneath his feet as he leapt straight into the air above the main ship.

Both hands clenched tightly around the blade's shaft, his entire presence condensing onto the edge of the weapon.

Even though his nearly seven-meter-tall body was still tiny compared to the island, the bisento in his hands now shone with a light capable of cleaving the darkness itself.

"Shatter… for me!!"

Crack!

That was the sound of the atmosphere breaking.

A whitecrack over a thousand meters long appeared out of thin air, like shattered glass hanging in the sky.

Veins bulged on Whitebeard's forehead, his expression twisted to the extreme—he was clearly pouring every last ounce of strength into this strike.

Air Quake!

The power slammed precisely into the island's weakest point.

The once-invincible colossal island let out a tortured groan under the shock force.

Then, a blinding white light shot skyward, splitting the entire island cleanly in two!

The deadly crisis looming over the Whitebeard Pirates' heads—spanning a thousand meters—was completely resolved by this single blow.

Two broken island masses, each several kilometers in diameter, screamed through the air as they plunged into the sea on either side of the Moby Dick.

"The shockwave is coming! Grab the railings!"

Amid hoarse, desperate shouts, the shattered islands slammed heavily into the ocean.

BOOOOM—!

Gigantic waves erupted, deafening in their fury.

Countless sea creatures were instantly pulverized by the terrifying impact, reduced to blood mist that dyed the surrounding waters red.

The waves raised by the fall reached heights of over a thousand meters, forming walls of despair that slammed outward in all directions—

Even taller than the altitude at which Tenma himself was standing.

Boom! Boom!

Two more dull air shockwave detonations rang out.

Whitebeard, still suspended in midair, threw two backhanded punches, shock force blasting forth and hammering the waves rushing toward the Moby Dick back into the sea.

Even so, the massive flagship still bucked violently like a leaf caught in a hurricane, pitching up and down.

The crisis was over.

After neutralizing this "Heavenly Obstruction Shaking Star"-level attack, even Whitebeard felt drained.

His monster-like chest heaved violently, heavy breaths clearly audible, beads of sweat the size of beans sliding down his face.

Time spared no one.

Coupled with the long-term backlash inflicted on his body by the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, his internal organs had long since reached their limit.

The moment Whitebeard landed, Marco rushed over.

As the ship's doctor, no one understood better than him that his father's body was a powder keg waiting to explode.

But he dared not say it outright, fearing it would wound Whitebeard's pride.

He could only pretend to support him while secretly channeling the Phoenix's regenerative flames into Whitebeard's body.

Whitebeard didn't push him away.

He understood this eldest son's intentions all too well.

He lifted his head, his gaze grave as he looked toward the sky.

That brat named Tenma truly did possess the power to destroy the world—just as the rumors claimed.

If this were his youthful prime, he might have laughed in exhilaration.

But with this worn, aging body… if the fight truly dragged on, the outcome would likely be even more brutal than expected.

Up in the sky, seeing his attack neutralized, Tenma didn't press the assault.

Beside him, Hancock and Yamato also drifted closer to the Moby Dick as the shattered islands fell away.

Once the sea's turbulence settled slightly, Tenma had already descended to within a hundred meters of Whitebeard.

Looking down at the old man gripping Murakumogiri, Tenma curled his lips into a faint smile.

"Old man, at your age, you're still pretty nimble."

Whitebeard narrowed his eyes and snorted coldly.

"I've still got enough strength to knock you into the sea and feed you to the fish!"

If that earlier strike had landed, most of his sons would have been killed or maimed—

That alone had completely enraged the overlord of the seas.

Since the enemy had closed the distance and abandoned that shameless high-altitude bombardment, it suited him just fine.

"Then come and try!"

Whitebeard stomped his left foot down hard, the deck instantly cracking apart.

A violent gale erupted, and his massive body burst forth at a speed utterly mismatched with his size.
