Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Feedback

Choza turned to Guy with a gentle smile after hearing his declaration. "Guy, I expect you to get your first kill in our next mission. So be ready."

Guy nodded, determination burning in his eyes. "Yes, sensei!"

With that, they continued moving back toward the village. Choza started giving feedback on what each of them had done during the fight.

"Guy, you did well with your taijutsu and not getting surrounded by the bandits," Choza said. "But you will need something to prevent getting overwhelmed by multiple attacks. An attack that can take out multiple people at the same time would be very useful for you."

Guy nodded thoughtfully, already imagining new training routines in his head.

"Genma," Choza continued, "you did well, but be aware of your surroundings. You got kicked by that chunin because you were too busy fighting it out with the other bandits. In a battlefield, situational awareness is the difference between life and death."

He added, "Also, your strength lies with poison. Try to rely more on them. Do not get drawn into close combat unless you have no choice."

Genma nodded seriously, taking every word to heart.

Choza finally moved to Shunsui. "You did well taking out a bulk of the bandits at the start. That lessened the pressure on your teammates. And we will be talking later about how you teleported through the shadow of that chunin. Even Shikaku cannot do stuff like that with shadows, and he is a Nara prodigy."

"But anyway," Choza continued, "you should not have just openly attacked the bandits. Yes, you were confident in taking them out, but what if they had escaped? How would you have caught so many of them running in different directions?"

"And by leaving yourself in the open, what if there was someone specializing in assassination techniques? Despite your sensitivity to chakra, you are not a sensor. Someone could have easily tried to take you out from behind, and you might not have been able to use your sword abilities in time."

Shunsui nodded at that. He knew he was just a kid pretending to be battle-hardened. His sensei was the real one with battle experience, and his advice would do him good. "I understand, sensei. I will be more careful next time."

After walking in silence for a while, Shunsui asked, "Is there a way to become a sensor?"

Choza thought for a moment. "Now that is a difficult task, Shunsui. Not many try to become a sensor if they are not born naturally or have a kekkei genkai regarding it. Well, except for the Yamanaka clan, whose clan techniques help them become sensors or require them to be one."

"So can I become one?"

"Well, you can, but that would mean dedicating a lot of time to that art. And you would not be as good as other sensors with a natural talent. Your range would be smaller."

Shunsui thought carefully. 'My focus currently is on furthering chakra augmentation and improving my physique. I have not started on fuinjutsu yet, so I can start with becoming a sensor. I do not have anything else to focus on right now.'

He made up his mind and looked at Choza. "Sensei, I want to become a sensor."

Choza gave him a long look, studying the boy's calm face. Then he nodded slowly. "Very well. I will see what I can do."

The team continued walking toward the village gates as the sun dipped lower in the sky.

The forest path opened up ahead, and the walls of Konoha came into view. Their first C-rank mission was over.

---

When they got back to the village, the three genin had calmed down. Guy did not look nauseous . Genma had stopped sweating so much, and his hands had become steady again. Shunsui also looked more like his usual self, though a small part of him still felt uneasy. The walk back had given them time to breathe and push the images of blood and bodies to the back of their minds.

Guy was back to his cheery, youthful self. He looked at his teammates and sensei with sparkling eyes and a wide grin. "We have finally returned from our first dangerous mission! Yosh! We faced real enemies and came back stronger! This is the power of youth!"

He then bowed deeply. "Tou-san has asked me to invite you all for dinner at our place after coming back to the village from the mission."

"A dinner, huh? Of course we would be there," Choza said with a big smile. He rubbed his tongue around his lips as if he could already taste the food.

"I will be there," Genma said simply.

"I was planning to take a nap..." Shunsui said slowly, already thinking about his soft bed.

Choza immediately placed his heavy hand on Shunsui's shoulder. The weight was so strong that Shunsui almost stumbled.

Choza looked at him with pure horror, as if Shunsui had just committed a terrible crime against humanity. "Shunsui... you are rejecting an invitation to dinner? A free meal? After everything we have been through today? Do you want to break this old man's heart? Do you want me to cry in front of the village gates?"

Shunsui stared at his sensei's dramatic face for a second. He let out a long sigh. "I will be there."

"Yosh!" Guy cheered loudly. "I will be going then! I have to tell Tou-san and help him with the dinner!" With that, Guy took off running at full speed, leaving a small cloud of dust behind him.

Choza turned to his remaining two genin with a satisfied smile. "I will see you after filing the mission report. Go home, wash up, and come with empty stomachs."
