In a nation divided between the wealthy Spires and the struggling Sinks, one hundred citizens are sent to Blackwake to compete in the Red Hunt, a televised survival game where only the strongest are expected to make it home.
Each Quadrangle is made up of four Hunter Classes: the Tactician, who leads the team through strategy and decision-making; the Scout, who moves ahead to gather information and navigate danger; the Fighter, who handles combat and protects the team; and the Lifeline, who keeps injured teammates alive and provides medical support.
Among them is Elowen Bradshaw, a Tactician from the Sinks who enters the Hunt expecting nothing more than a fight for survival. But Blackwake is not the arena the government claims it to be. As the bodies pile up and the island reveals secrets buried beneath its surface, Elowen begins to realize that someone has been watching and manipulating the game from the shadows.
The deeper Elowen goes, the more the Red Hunt stops looking like a competition and starts looking like something far more deliberate. Because the Hunters were never chosen at random.
The Red Hunt was never about finding a winner.
It was about deciding who deserved to be erased, then convincing an entire nation to watch.
