Colors drained from my face the moment I realized. I had been drugged last night, and all along, I'd been wondering who was behind it. Judging by the smirk on Ashley's face, it didn't take long to put two and two together.
Anger bubbled inside me, but I held myself back for the sake of family. I spoke in a low, icy voice, "Ashley Miller, you'd better come clean about what you did last night."
Ashley's eyes burned with hatred. She had always felt superior to me, and no matter what I said, she refused to be shaken.
"What did I do last night?" she shot back, voice sharp and dripping with irritation. "I'm speaking the truth. You, on the other hand… having a fling with some random guy as a married woman—how dare you criticize me?" She was venting the frustration of being ignored by Fabian earlier that morning, taking her anger out on me.
Before I could reply, a commanding voice cut through the tension. "Ashley, do you have any idea who you're speaking to?"
